Happy St. Patrick's Day

Saw the request for new space. Debating over a topic...Steakums or DST downtime.

For those of you that are gold and diamond members there, does the frequent and extended down time irritate you? Do you feel like the money you paid for "membership" give you special gripe privileges? Does it irritate you enough to complain to Shannon?

As always discuss this or anything else...I still check in on you, and will post new space around Easter or sooner if requested. Have a good one...off to drink a pint.

Sigh, maybe it's your attitude? Did you think of that? No, obviously not. Again, way to deflect.

Um, I'm the one with the GOOD attitude and don't really see the things wrong with DST that everyone else has been pointing at. So I guess I need to check my good attitude and make it bad? That makes sense?

I've seen so many newbies post in the scrap chatter or NSBR and just not get answered. I think that's snobby, maybe you don't.

So who's responsibility is it to answer these posts? Why don't YOU answer them?

I don't think it's snobby that they are going unanswered. I've seen them and usually they are asking questions that are really hard. Such as "How do I begin digiscrapping when I can't figure out Photoshop?" And then when someone does respond, you all will complain that it is pimping.

I think it's time to make the community what we want it to be and stop waiting for someone else to take care of it for us.

I like it. The place needed freshening up!

I like the new look of ES, much better than before. Unfortunately it's just as slow loading as the last site. I can't stand shopping in a store that takes forever to load.

I haven't noticed it being slow for at least the last few months.

After 18 months of beating my head against a brick wall, I'm done. The community is never going to be what I want it to be because it's too big and too many people are happy with the status quo or have gone elsewhere.

What is your problem? You are here on the same blog that she is. And while DST might be mentioned in the title there are posts about all thing digi-not just DST.

If you want the whole sunshine and roses approach, what are YOU doing here?

Anonymous said...

I am here because you all need someone to debate with. Otherwise it's just a bitch-fest.

Anonymous said...

I'm the person that actually responded to the bad attitude poster. I'm here because I believe that a number of them problems with the digi community exist because people are imature. If someone doesn't answer their posts they take it personally. If someone doesn't comment on their layouts they whine. If a designer retires and then decides to come back, they get smacked on a blog. And this is just the recent crap. You all feel you have the right to know everything that a designer has ever done wrong before you even think about buying a product. It's crazy!

I'm not looking for sunshine and roses. I don't think it's right that DST doesn't work half the time. I'm annoyed about the broken images and slow gallery. And I have dealt with these by emailing DST with my name attached.

But I'm also not going to sit back and let the smack about the lies prevail. Someone has to ask the questions and point it out.

I'm on this blog because it might change even one person's perspective and hopefully let them know that that this place is full of lies, jealousy, and deceit. I'm big enough to read it and not believe it! And I can handle whatever you dish out. It would be different if any of what is posted posted wasn't just a bunch of accusations with no proof. It's all based on feelings.

You are so about being OPEN and allowing all opinions, right? I think you can handle having someone asking more questions before you point fingers. If not, well, then you aren't thick skinned enough to be on a smack blog.

Anonymous said...

Oh goodie, the savior of the digi scrap world is here!

It was said at least once at DST that Lisa Whitney was retiring and it was the last chance to grab her stuff.

Then she's back 3 months later with all her old stuff.

I can see how that looks like a marketing ploy to some.

Anonymous said...

Lisa Whitney never said she was going to retire. When she closed her shop she said she was going into hibernation, which to me says that someday she would be back. Here is the link to her blog with the sale announced as a hibernation sale.

Sometimes posts at a site don't get answered. There are so many posts sometimes they just slip by unnoticed.

It is perfectly ok to bump your own post with a comment like "this may have slipped through the cracks, any help would be appreciated."

If a question doesn't get answered, it is not necessarily that people are being rude. There is so much going on in the digi world, it is getting harder and harder to just keep up with everything.

The comment that Lisa was retiring came from Michele not Lisa. You can't blame Lisa that someone else passed along incorrect information.

Anonymous said...

I didn't blame Lisa-just posted a link to where it was said at DST that she was retiring and it was the last chance to grab her products.

Anonymous said...

The idea that someone states something at DST and then that info is passed on here as "fact" is mind boggling.

Just because something is said at DST or anywhere else for that matter doesn't make it true. This is the internet and anyone can say anything they want. You have to do your own due diligence and research to determine fact from fiction.

--------------------------------
I wasn't referring to "you" specifically. Just "you" as globally meaning all of us. The gist of the original posts was criticizing designers for saying that they were retiring and then showing back up in a few months. Lisa was used as an example. My point was only that she didn't actually say that she was retiring so accusing her of using that as a marketing ploy was unjustified.

Anonymous said...

---------------------------------
Yep, I need to be obvious because some people around here just don't get it.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter even if she did say she's retiring. She's allowed to change her mind. (or any other designer for that matter!)

Anonymous said...

Designers just need to stay out of forums, off the blogs, STFU and just design and sell their stuff. Go to the DCR and comiserate with each other on how horrible customers are or something.

Anonymous said...

Changing your mind is ok.

Marketing ploys are ok.

Saying you are going to retire when you know you are switching stores pisses people off. I'm not saying anyone did this. But apparently just giving the impression that you might have done this is enough to piss people off.

Actually some people just get pissed off rather easily.

So next time a designer has a sale because she is leaving, retiring, taking a break or whatever...people may not rush to grab the deals before they're gone just in case they may come back. If it's on sale and you want it just buy it.

As the original "bad attitude" poster, I think you should follow your own advice. You have pointed your finger at me several times, and quite happily. You refer to me as the bad attitude poster, I reiterate that I didn't have a bad attitude, I was merely expressing my dissatisfaction, sorry if that counts as bad attitude with you, but that makes you immature, as you can only see things as 'bad' and 'good'.

I gave a list of what I wanted to see in a forum, which you happily picked apart, again in a very accusatory tone. Even to the point of making things up like, "they aren't answered as they are asking really hard questions", I wasn't aware saying hello was a hard question. Wow, look at that, I learned something new today.

I'm not sure why you are taking it all so personally.

I have responded in a mature way, but you can't seem to handle that.

Sorry I am not one of those designers. I can make all my own stuff and don't need CU products to do it. I actually took the time to learn my software and I don't sell CU products. Why on earth would I create more competition for myself?? Albeit competition that can't design for themselves!

I have no desire to use the same CU stuff every second designer uses. Keeping my designs original works for me and my customers know they will get an original quality product when they buy my designs and that is the way I like it.

Would love to see how popular a Vellum style would be in the CU market tho, would be interesting! ROFL Oh dear....

Michelle's response that it was a post processing class is neither here nor there. I took her photography class, and it was just as bad. A few "handouts" - normally less than one page per lesson - with descriptions of photography basics (like aperture) that could have easily been found using a google search. It was a total rip off.

We were given Michelle's Flickr account to post our photos for comment, which she did do the first few weeks, but then totally abandoned.

AND she had the nerve to tell us that we were such a downer (for complaining about the class) that she couldn't get enthused. HELLOOOO...you had our damn money, that should have been incentive enough!

Very interesting that Lena claims she just now noticed that Michelle's original post was considered advertising, and that's why it was moved. That first post was on the Photography forum for 2-1/2 months!

I'd bet big bucks that the only reason it got noticed is because Michelle reads over here, got pissed, and went straight to Shannon.

We've heard it before Shannon, not only do we not believe it, but even if you did it we'd still hate the site. Stop complaining people, do something about it! Without the site traffic, her advertisers won't get their views. Without advertisers, Shannon won't get her money. And Lord knows, when Shannon doesn't get her money, there won't be any more DST. Go spend your time at DSA or MSA where at least you won't be ripped off and they seem to actually run their sites and not just take the money and run.
