Did you actually buy it, and are posting because you've seen the files up close? Or are you judging from the 100% shots in additional images in the store? Just curious.
Either way, I think her strength has always been in her extracting (which is usually flawless), and I wouldn't ever buy element templates from her anyway. When it comes to extracted elements, she's usually awesome. JIMO.
-------- I was looking at it - the 100% details were not good. No way I'd buy it.
Her extractions are generally very good, but a couple recently have been OK.
You can't really go by the freebies, most of them are REALLY old. Not a current reflection of the current store quality. A few of the designers have facebook freebies, I think they are a better indicator of quality as they are current. August 13, 2011 3:09 AM
--------------- Quality is determined by everything you have in your store. If it's old and doesn't reflect good quality or your current style, then get rid of it. If it is in the store, it is MOST CERTAINLY indicative of current store quality.
^^^^^^^^^^
I was just getting ready to post this very same thing, and then I read your response/post. Couldn't agree more. If something is old and the quality is bad (and now you "know better", whether as a designer or as a store)... then you PULL THE ITEM OFF THE SHELVES! Doing otherwise just means you endorse the quality and want it to represent your store.
Sorry to the DSP designer who constantly posts here, but I just don't like the look of a digital bow/ribbon. It's so obviously fake, and it ruins a kit for me.

Fake? Come on, it's all 'fake', even extracted .....as in a 2 dimensional representation of a 3d item. It's just a different kind of art. I happen to like some digital art and some extracted but honestly.

Obviously it's not real tangible stuff. Who cares? My point was, some digital scraps look fake and some look realistic. Perhaps it would make it easier for you to understand if I had said that I think digital bows and ribbons are an ugly type of fake looking element that I wouldn't want to use on my page.
Just smaller for the preview because it kind of takes over the whole things. I agree with the keeping it bigger in the kit though b/c it is always better to make something smaller than to try and enlarge it and lose quality. ------
There's nothing like contacting a well known (SSD) designer with a quality question and not receiving a response.

Well I've been debating contacting a designer who sold me an action that doesn't work. But I bought it in May and only tried to use it now, so I thought it was too late. When I read stuff like the above, I just think I'll write it off. I know it's probably not the same designer, but it's a well known one too and they probably won't do anything about it anyway.

Why not give it a try, you may be surprised. I've had issues with actions before and it was a well known designer, she helped me out straight away.
whenever I've tried to contact a designer and got no response after multiple emails..pms' at the shop, etc. - I use the store Contact form. Its worked everytime...and then of course, the designer will say something like they didn't get the pm, or....my emails must have gone to the spam folder...you name it. but....i got what I needed in the end. and the designer lost a customer.

Also, to the OP: why come here and post something like this, but refuse to name names? This is a smack blog, not a counseling hotline. We don't want to hold your hand and make you feel better because you're having a rough time... we want to hear who sold you crap, and what was wrong with it? Otherwise, please don't waste our time.

Too bad I'm not bitch enough to name names here. I just want to vent.
^^^^
I personally would rather you named names here. This is the whole purpose. To me that wouldn't be bitching at all. If you called her names and so on that would be, but stating facts can hardly be perceived as being bitchy. For that matter: I had a question for Melanie Colossimo once. She handled it extremely poorly (took forever to respond, came up with lame excuses and then offered a solution that was none) and I never bought from her again. It was a small order but she sure lost out on any follow ups that's for sure.
As a designer, I've had customer emails go to spam before, so I'd post on the Facebook fan page just to be sure they got it. May make you feel a bit like a stalker, but I would hate for people to think I'm not responding to their email when really, I just never got it.
Um, from a designer's perspective... I would NEVER post on another designer's fan page with a problem/issue, unless I had already contacted her 2-3 times and received no response (including trying to contact her through the store owner). Posting on a FB fan page is a dirty, BS maneuver, IMO... unless all else has failed. It's like publicly outing someone for an issue that affects their livelihood.
^^^^^ Didn't make the original suggestion, but I see nothing wrong with it. No one said she had to post on the FB page and say "I found a quality problem in one of your kits." She could just post that she has been trying to reach her and isn't sure if her emails are reaching the designer. And ask her to please get in touch.
It doesn't have to be inflammatory. Shit, what is written here half the time does more to harm a designer's livelihood, anyway. Talk about hypocritical. You'd have no problem flaming someone here, but you'd never post on their FB wall? Yah, right.
You can also send a private message on FB so nobody but the designer would see it. -------------
Actually no you can't, unless you are friends w/ the designer on FB. You can't send private messages to someone who's not on your list, and you can't send private messages to a business page (they have no inbox).
I agree that if you just post "please check your e-mail" on the FB page, that's fine. If you post about the issue, though, that's another matter. I agree that would be unnecessary and rude.
Not that a designer failing to respond to a customer isn't super rude already... but still...

-------------
I disagree. I am certain that there are far less people who *regularly* check this blog and keep up with it than follow my FB page. If something inflammatory was posted on my FB page, it's a straight conduit to my customers' newsfeeds and I know that hundreds of people would see if before I ever figured out it was there (I don't live on FB like most people). Here, though, I am sure that far less than that would see it (or care) before the topic moved on to a point where people had to work too hard to go back and read previous posts to even bother. KWIM?
Agree that nothing inflammatory has to be posted on FB though.
Anyone see Maya's SBG promotion sent today? Nothing like shamelessly promoting herself and herself alone in a single newsletter.
I'm not a fan of yours, Maya. I don't want to receive newsletters that are ONLY about you and your products. I am sure I am not alone in that opinion. I subscribe to see the products of designers I like. Not so that I can be treated to newsletters for your personal products only. You should reserve those for your own newsletter list!
so I just tried to see if the new challenge is up at DSA - I'm not in the contest, just curious..and I get "bandwidth exceeded"...LOL...anyone else getting that?
so I just tried to see if the new challenge is up at DSA - I'm not in the contest, just curious..and I get "bandwidth exceeded"...LOL...anyone else getting that? ------ Yep, sorry. This is the first year I gave them an FTP.. and it completely killed my bandwidth. I wasn't expecting to use 1 TB of bandwidth in 9 days. I paid for another TB but I don't get reset until the 5th so I might have to ask them not to use the ftp for the rest.. I don't know yet, I'm still trying to decide how to handle it. It was $50 I wasn't planning on today, that's for sure LOL

To whatever idiot posted about "why do designers have to use 4shared?! waah waah waah" earlier in this space (last week?ish) ... now you know why. Even a big site like DSA can't keep within their bandwidth allotment when the freebie hunters strike. And you expect individual designers to do this for you, just so you don't have to wait 20 seconds for a download? Ha.

How many designers are on the DSA Designer Apprentice? More than 1 designer, right? One designer does not get that much traffic. Fuck you.
^^^ Wow - is it someone's time of the month. Listen moron. An individual designer won't have the same kind of hosting plan as DSA - that'd be idiotic. So if DSA - a forum/store/gallery that already pays for traffic - has bandwidth issues with freebie hunters - don't bitch and moan about individual designers not shelling out money so you can grab their products for free.
^^^^^^ I sure hope you don't bitch and moan that your sales aren't what you'd like them to be if you're using 4shared, since it does not work at all for some of your potential customers. Personally I have no problem with mediafire or box, what's wrong with using a variety of hosting sites and letting people choose which link to click?

^^^ I don't use 4shared - or any other "wait to download" hosting. I treat my customers (and freebie hunters) well - and don't mind paying a price to do so. But not everyone can/does.
^^Do you now? LOL... In all honesty, I am quite grateful for the experience.
I didn't realize how I was coming across (personality-wise)... Yes, it is humbling to hear I'm a snippy little bitch... but maybe it was something I needed to hear... I'll work on it...
As far as the critiques on my work, they've been invaluable. Trust me, I will never unseparate an element again. Most of what has been said about my products I agree with... Hindsight is always 20/20... I can only hope to learn from my mistakes and be a better designer (and person) in the end...
well, Terra - your designs aren't bad...but you do come off as a know it all - at DST and now in the chat at DSA. and no, I'm NOT in the 'contest'. Unless you want that 'snippy little bitch' to stick...by all means , work on the attitude. State your opinion, but a little milder wouldn't hurt. I don't know if you notice or not...but the people you are talking to for the most part are beginners, especially at DST. The more seasoned designers generally don't chime in on stuff like that unless it affects them personally. Learning WHEN to speak up is a skill in itself.
I do apologize for that... I honestly didn't realize I was coming across that way... I definitely do NOT think I'm an expert at all... So to find out that I am coming across in a way that is so negative and "bullheaded" was really important for me to hear. So thank you.

You don't and never have come across that way to me. However, some people will get their panties in a wad over the whole perceived 'know it all' attitude. For some reason, they really seem to dislike someone knowing something or taking the time to look it up, so they can share that knowledge. I don't get it. If they didn't want to know the answer, why ask the question.

LMAO!!! That was my first thought/reaction when I read the response, too! Meg is the worst. The absolute worst. She showed up in the DCR maybe 6-8 months ago (definitely not even a year ago), all wet behind the ears and full of SOOOO much knowledge/experience (?!??) and immediately was getting snitty with industry veterans and throwing around her weight. Unbelievable. I simply couldn't believe it. She's knowledgeable about her line of expertise, for sure (anything web-related), but she's an ass about answering things almost all of the time. And she's really NOT that good of a digi supply designer yet, so her attitude of "holier than thou, shit doesn't stink" is really unbelievable. If ANYONE should be coming here to this blog and making amends like Terra just tried to, it's Meg, for sure. Wow.

That's exactly the kind of thing Meg would say, too. LOL. "Why can't you look it up on google?" *sigh*
Terra came and tried to make amends - true - but it's still not a good idea to sign in here as yourself. She could just as easily been smacked - bad. Trish was and she didn't deserve it at all.
So Terra - be forewarned that:

But the truth is that number 3 is not always true when it comes to the 'truth'. The opinions voiced here are made by people who might very well have an agenda and you don't have a clue what it is.
I keep hearing about this mystical agenda complaint. When it comes to critiquing product, I don't get this. There may be opinions, but I don't understand how someone can critique because they have an ulterior motive.
Now about personality, there I can see a possibility of an agenda, but even then I think it's pretty transparent. Mileage may vary, I guess.

No conspiracy theories here just a bit of common sense. Many, many designers here want the sales (duh). Why beef up the competitors product?
Plus there's opinion. I saw a lot of that in the reviews. One of the reviewers obviously didn't like the digital 'look' and another didn't like bevels - or maybe it the same person. I can't remember ... the reviews started running together in my mind.
Sigh. Haven't we already covered this? ALL reviews are opinion. Duh. And everyone can say anything here. If you don't agree with anything said about any product or designer, speak up! Then you'll know for certain how people other than the reviewer think about it. I'm not one of those who've been doing reviews here but really, you think they'll review 50-60 products just to slam competitors?
That color palette originally came from a design inspiration website. It's been floating around Pinterest for a while now. It seems like fair game for her to use to me. Though, obviously she hasn't seen the blog train, or she'd know it turned out to be a difficult palette to work with.

^^^ Or maybe she's a good designer who can create something unique with a palette that other designers couldn't
She is a good designer. I'm certain she could do something nice with the swatch. A lot of the designers in the train did as well. That doesn't mean it wasn't a difficult swatch to work with.

I don't know her from a bar of soap, but what exactly should she be making amends for? Because you don't like her attitude? Wow. I know a lot of industry veterans who don't know jack shit. They think they are better than everyone else, just because they've been around. Should they make amends too?
I'm pretty darn sure the person who said that about Ocean Wide and Google said it BECAUSE that is what good old Meg is always telling everyone to do. Ask a question in the DCR, and Meg responds...seems all 'put out' because this stupid person who asked didn't Google first...or search the DST threads first...and is ALWAYS trying to make people seem stupid for always asking.
It frustrates me when people ask for help with something when they haven't tried to help themselves first. I think that's actually really disrespectful to people's time ... and there are forums where it is in the forum rules to search the forums BEFORE asking questions or expect no response. So I don't think Meg is out of line on that topic. And no, I'm not her.
Look at the attitude of some on this blog. They tell people to try google or look back to previous posts and looking back to previous posts on this blog is a PITA.
Ask a question in the DCR, and Meg responds...seems all 'put out' because this stupid person who asked didn't Google first...or search the DST threads first...and is ALWAYS trying to make people seem stupid for always asking. -------
You know that saying, there are no stupid questions? Sorry, but there are stupid questions. Really stupid questions.
seriously? Puts ramen in their hair and sucks their thumb? There is some things you should just keep to yourself. At least all Traci could come up with is that she was a vet of the industry.

This is true in many forum communities, and is sorta an "unwritten rule" (even written, some places). But NOT in digi, where everything is "flowery hugs and rosy and sweet lovey-dovey" BS. Yes, we all know that's just on the surface, and that people's real personalities show up here on blogs like this... but not in the forums like DST. So when someone like Meg (who is, yes, very brash and borders on rude quite often) treats the digi forum crowd like the crowds at other types of forums, it's a bit off-putting to many people who haven't ventured into the other realms before and don't understand forum etiquette.
Do I get irritated/annoyed that people are lazy and ask the same questions in the forum over and over? Yes. But I don't verbally bitch slap them for it in public, I just don't respond to their inquiry and go about my merry way. Meg seems to feel it's her job on this earth to educate everyone and make them understand how wrong/dumb they are. Apparently she has a lot more free time than I do.
"It frustrates me when people ask for help with something when they haven't tried to help themselves first. I think that's actually really disrespectful to people's time" ---------------------------
I agree. I like to help, but at least put some effort in first.
My favorite is 'can you teach me how to use photoshop?' There are so many great free basic tutorials on the net. I'm still practicing & learning all the time, even after using photoshop for years. There's always something new to learn. I'm thankful that people share their tutorials online.

"It frustrates me when people ask for help with something when they haven't tried to help themselves first. I think that's actually really disrespectful to people's time"
^^^^^^^^^^^^ It actually doesn't affect your time at all, if you choose not to respond to it. When you CHOOSE to respond to/help the people that ask the same questions over and over and are lazy and unwilling to "do their own work," you're actually the one being disrespectful of your own time. Just saying. ----------------- "So when someone treats the digi forum crowd like the crowds at other types of forums, it's a bit off-putting to many people who haven't ventured into the other realms before and don't understand forum etiquette. ----------------- This is so true!"
^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yes, there's definitely a right and a wrong way to treat people in forums, regardless of whether you think they're an idiot. If you are annoyed that someone posted something you feel was "lazy" or "stupid", then don't respond and move on.
WORD TO THE WISE: pointing out to others how stupid/silly/lazy/etc. they (or their questions) are doesn't make you look helpful or wise to the rest of the community (even to those who agree with you). IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK BITCHY. Even if you are "in the right".
I'd check out the Daily Digi (www.thedailydigi.com). You can easily search their previous posts for any topic you're looking for, and there's always great tips for all levels of expertise.

I've not asked questions here because I saw the "go back and read it" responses. Instead, I went back and read it - all. It took a while and boy I'll tell you - it put me in a foul mood but I read every post here. I'm just sorry that the links to the sites that might have answered my questions no longer exist. Maybe I'll ask my questions someday but I'll be sure to let you all know in advance that I've already went back and read this whole blog and couldn't find the answer!
The funny thing about it is that even if you ask something here that others think is "stupid", it's not like they know who you are. So you might as well ask, and THEN if nobody will help you, you can go back for some not-so-pleasure reading. But it doesn't hurt to ask. Even if someone bites your head off here, at least they have no idea who you are. So ask!
if you know about something dishonest happening and you
A) don't post publicly about it - you are a coward, hiding behind your anonymity, and are clearly part of the problem.
B) do post publicly about it - you are a drama-whore attention-freak who probably thinks your shit doesn't stink and you should mind your own business.

Oh god. I just stopped by the DCR and Trish has posted a blog planning/palette thread. People are posting (and drooling over) a few of the fugliest palettes imaginable. Just because a photo looks good w/ certain colors, doesn't mean those colors will equate to a nice-looking scrap kit! Didn't we just learn this w/ the last blog train palette, which looked good on the original photo but looked pretty darn bad when translated into a scrap kit? I really wish that designers knew better...

Well why don't you just go and post what is a great color palette ?? I took a look at them and I think that there are actually 2-3 that are cute.
hmm I just went and looked and agree w/ what julieitis just posted there about a few of those palettes not working on their own (without the original photo they were taken from ). I like the one wishing well posted and I like the gypsy one that everyone seems to be loving, although I can see how the bad designers could really make that one look awful without trying too hard.
Sigh. Look it up. The word is learnt as well as learned. Do we really have to go there every single time? Contrary to what you may think, not everyone in the whole English speaking world speaks American English. Deal with it!!!

and it just so happens that I have had more hits on this blog train kit with this palette and open theme then several before it and it's only the middle of the month! also had more nice comments then I've had in the past so obviously what you thought to be an ugly palette maybe wasn't so ugly in others opinions. as to the couple palette this month, if they take one of the extended palettes with more colors, I think it would be okay. I have trouble using gray which is a neutral anyway, so it actually becomes 4 colors instead of 5.

Lots of designers show their color palette somewhere on their preview so that those buying have a better idea to the colors used. Helps if one wants to hunt for like colors in other kits.

1. Of course you've had more hits on this blog train than in the past. We've "advertised" the hell out of this month's train on this blog, and obviously generated a lot of interest in something that wasn't previously a hot topic. I will bet you cold hard cash that a lot of designers who never, ever, ever bother w/ the blog train have actually checked it out this month. I am one of them.
2. I agree about the extended palettes in the DCR planning thread right now. A few of the palettes from design seeds are too limited. I'm finding it really interesting to see which designers created their own palette and submitted it and which designers just pulled a photo off the front page of design seeds. Lack of imagination. No wonder we always see the "same kits" (colors, themes, etc.) every month when people release new products... too many people are getting their ideas/palettes from the same place, and not enough people are actually designing.
'3 Little Monsters - Just out of curiosity, is adding 5 or 6 little 'color palette' circles to your preview the newest trend? I've seen it pop up a lot lately.'
now its not just the color circles they are all going with, but a complete ripoff of the round one winners packaging too - --- I'm going to guess they're adding the color palette b/c their alpha is supposed to coordinate w/ their week one mini and they're trying to make it easier on the judges? Just a thought.
who combines those items together in one kit? weird. -----
WTF are you talking about?
_______________
Sorry, at the time I posted that there was a discussion going on related to the blog train planning thread in the DCR. Someone posted a palette and used those words as ideas of a direction to take the theme. I should have added a reference, but I figured those who had seen the thread would know what I was talking about (and those who hadn't seen it, probably don't have access to the DCR, so it was pointless to link to it).
Ok I'm looking for your favorite "go to kits" A break from the drama.. which kits do you go to time and time again? Which designer never disappoints? Link me up!
^^^ I find myself going to my stash from Shabby Princess, even when using other kits for other projects. My style is not nearly as shabby/girly as hers (or as most of her customers' galleries, I guess)... but when using individual pieces from anything she's made, they're always perfect additions to whatever I am working on. I love "Hopscotch" when I am working on something w/ cheerful colors (goes w/ almost anything), and I love "Clementine" when working w/ darker more muted tones (also goes w/ a LOT, surprisingly), and I love "Bountiful" and "Damask and Dots" when I need neutrals.
I just wish she'd release something new, already. Her last kit was released around/over a year ago?
By golly, this store has a ton of designers! I only have through Kitty Designs done, but honestly, what I've seen so far doesn't make me go "WOW! I can't wait to see more..." Most of it is OK, but it's not "I'll only shop here exclusively" quality.
Ashalee Wall - All of her recent papers look the same to me. Kit after kit, paper pack after paper pack. Just different colors. She dabbles in different styles from time to time. She needs to make more solid papers as well. Many of her kits only include one solid. I have some of her older, retired kits and they are far more interesting that most of what she has in her store now. I do like some of her products and find them decently priced for what you get. Her quality has always been good. She definitely caters to simple scrappers. Which is what I always think of when I think of Oscraps.
Biograffiti - Very simplistic templates that are very overpriced. Has some kits and paper packs that cater to her simple style. She does offer a nice range of products to make simple albums if that is your style. After spending $20 on her simple templates then the cost of printing a book or pages, it can really add up, though. I have some of her products (must have been freebies) and the quality is good.
Carla Gibson Designs - Mostly art journal/altered art items. Has some nice PU brushes available at a very cheap price point. I do not have any of her products, so I can't speak to the quality. Some of her paper packs are very oversaturated in color. I'm no expert in altered art, but many of her products look cheesy and cheap to me (especially her word art).
Cinzia Loosemore - Has mostly nice color palettes that scream Oscraps style to me. Has mostly nice patterned papers and includes solids. Elements are mostly doodly and flat (just the style, not a criticism). Does include a nice mix of realistic items such as ribbons and flowers as well without being mish mashy. Her single quick pages seem very overpriced to me ($2 for one), but they must do well since she has a ton of them in her store. Downloaded her store freebie because I liked the look of her kits, but sadly, a round flair is jagged, the doodles are jagged, and the papers have zero texture on them (I don't like a lot of texture myself, but these have zero!). It also has a very expired coupon inside. Deleted.
Creations by Tinamarie - Nice, simple patterns with soft textures. Mostly OK color schemes. Nice mix of realistic elements with doodles. Kits are small for the price tag. I don't have any of her products so I can't speak to the quality. Small store compared to others at Oscraps.
Danielle Young - Mostly OK color palettes with some nice patterns mixed with basics. Most of her patterns are very basic (lots of simple dots and simple stripes). I have one of her kits and the quality is just OK. Some elements are poorly colored and some have jagged edges. Some of her kits are very small for the price. Offers a lot of quick pages as well. Her older kits are a little mish mashy and don't seem to fit with her current style.
(Oscraps continued) Danielle Young - Mostly OK color palettes with some nice patterns mixed with basics.
Fei-fei's Stuff - Mostly nice color palettes. Off-hand, I didn't see one I didn't like. Makes a lot of patterned papers and they're done well. Has some more uncommon products - her "graffiti" line is nice and I don't see that stuff a lot. Has some nice, unique templates with her "painted on" series she did with Taylormade. I don't have any of her products, so I can't speak to the quality. She has a few freebies in her store, so I took a look. I don't care for the texture on her "cool bliss" sample, but the items are nice. I like the confetti. "something pop" is nice and has better textures. It also has some really cool elements. I will definitely check out more of her stuff and added some things to my wish list.
Joanne Brisebois - Her style is all over the place, but seems to be consistent within each product. I don't have any of her products. Her freebies are lame and don't really give me any insight into her kit products. The photography frame is nice, though. Some of her papers are much better than others. Some have nice patterns mixed with basics and solids. Others are hot messes. They're all the same price, so you can get some old, small packs that aren't as good for $3. Or you can get newer, better, fuller packs for $3. Not very consistent.
Jodie McNally - Her most recent product is from 2010. Not wasting my time to review. A quick browse tells me I'm not missing anything.
Joe Designs - The most recent product is from Christmas. Seriously!
Ju Kneipp Designs - I mostly enjoy her mix of styles in her elements. She puts together a shabby blend without it looking mish mashy (for the most part). She makes some nice patterns, but mostly simple patterns. I have some of her freebies and the recoloring isnt great on some items (very flat), but the quality of the item itself is OK (no strays or jaggies). I do not like how some of her elements come shadowed without an unshadowed version.
Kathryn Wilson Designs - Her bright blue packaging is horrible looking and it hides too much of the kit. I'm not buying your packaging. There are no extra previews in her solo listings that I looked at more closely. A mix of good and bad color palettes. Her solo kits are $3.50, which seems slightly low for some with more papers and a few more elements. Then she has a collab for $8 which is not over twice the size of her normal kits (that product has extra images). Some paper only packs are $3, some are less. Pricing is very inconsistent. I don't have any of her products and there was no in-store freebie, so I can't speak to the quality.
Kitty Designs - Kitty is always very hit or miss for me. Her kits have some nice color palettes and some truly gross ones. Some kits she makes beautiful patterned papers and other kits she doesn't make any. Her reds are VERY oversaturated as are some of her other colors. She makes some cute alphas and I like her little extras as far as her swirls and most of her word arts. They stick with her whimsical style. Many of her doodles have jagged edges and are not colored well. In her store freebie, Magical Moments, you can see this for yourself by looking at the owl trio element. Otherwise, she makes some cute, unique elements. I'm just not looking to spend $7 on a kit just for the unique elements and then have them be jagged.
Trish just posted a poll in the DCR for the next blog train palette, and she used 4 palettes that are semi-similar to palettes other designers had posted, but she ended up adding her own colors to them and almost every one of them is HIDEOUS. Why ask for designers' input, if you're going to just mix them all up anyway?
Right now, the 3rd one is winning and it's literally the fugliest one of them all. What is wrong w/ people??? Please, designers w/ any taste at all, go vote and keep us from having to work with that monstrosity.
oh, surprising. during the planning thread yesterday I hated the first one that got posted, but now that it's been tweaked (#1) and had some warmth added to it, it's looking pretty good. well, good compared to the rest of those... ugh. she sure did manage to mess up the chihuahua palette that everyone was loving so much, it's awful now. where did that peach color come from? yikes.
If you hate the colors so much, then DON'T participate! Not like it's mandatory.
-----------
Hi, Trish.
Why did you screw around w/ the palettes so much? Shouldn't ask for advice if you aren't going to use it. Those final palette choices are only vaguely reminiscent of the ones posted by designers.
It's hard to sit back and watch everyone bash Trish, who is working really hard to organize this whole thing.
That said, I do think it's extremely silly of her to post "rules" for the palette/swatch planning, and then not even follow her own "rules".
From her original post, yesterday afternoon: "Here is how this will work. You have 5 days to post any swatches you would like to see used for October's Train.
Follow these rules:
-1 swatch per designer -Give a "theme" to go with your swatch (one word or several descriptive words)
-if you are NOT posting a swatch, but like one that has been posted, please QUOTE their post and include it into your post, so that I can visibly see the "most liked swatches".
-At the end of 3 days I will EDIT This post and # the most popular swatches, for voting."
...and then she didn't allow people 3 days OR 5 days, for the posting of palettes OR the voting.
What gives? It's hard to defend you on this one, Trish, as you didn't even do what you said you were going to do... and then you hardly used the palettes that people did have time to post in the barely-24hrs the thread was up/active.
Looks like we may finally have an answer to the question that was asked a while back: "have recent blog trains been ugly because Trish can't pick a palette, or because most of the designers who sign-up for the blog train just can't design?"
...and then she didn't allow people 3 days OR 5 days, for the posting of palettes OR the voting.

^^^^^^^^^^
Yes, this. I saw the planning thread go up in the forum last night, and was planning on working on a palette today and posting it later tonight. WTF happened? I thought we had a few days to do this.
I just re-read it, and think it's also really weird that near the end she said something about how she would come back and post a voting poll as soon as a couple more palettes were submitted, almost like she was hoping for a couple of new ones. Then 3 more got submitted, a couple of which were some of the best I'd seen so far, but she didn't use any of them. Bummer.
There is another blog train at digiscrapforum.com. It's small, but has potential. I don't like the theme this month, so I didn't sign p, but it is on opposite months as the BTB.
What store has been planning a collab for months that Trish pulled the gypsy theme for? ----------- Good question, I have been curious about that, too. Like, how would she know? Is she selling somewhere now that ESS has folded?
What store has been planning a collab for months that Trish pulled the gypsy theme for? --------------- I think the adjusted scheme that Trixie Scraps posted was nice. Maybe Trish just plain didn't like it because that is the dumbest reason to pull it.
The dumbest part about the "pulled palette" is that a few people complained about it being pulled, and one even said something about "that's from a really well-known design color site" (as though it was everyone's right to use that palette).
Meanwhile, I was thinking... really? You want to use a palette that everyone else is using at the same time? How about a little uniqueness? Good god. Just a bunch of cows in a herd. Moo.

The third one is the ONLY one I like of the revamped schemes as Trish did them. Go figure. If the 2nd one wins, I won't participate. Have hated that swatch since I first saw it and Trish only made it worse.

I posted this very same thing about Captivated Visions doing a kit with the current blog train blog color palette and everyone who replied defended her for doing so.
Moo.
And I don't care how much "hard work" Trish does. She does it because she wants to. I'm not going to bend over and kiss her ass. If she doesn't like the time she spends organizing this, then accept some help or just step down. I hate people who whine about how much work something is, but then don't take anyone's help.
REALLY? we are going to play the whole "It's Trish's fault the palettes are UGLY game" I only added TWO colors to the palettes, and they were pulled FROM the PICTURES that were posted, so give me a freaking break.
Also... I would LOVE to know WHO is hiding behind Anonymous in posting here and not saying a word to me at DST. Am I really that mean and scary that you cant send me a message?? For heavens sake I'm TRYING to listen to what YOU DESIGNERS & CUSTOMERS want so give me something to work with .. 1st its "I'm going to bitch because the colors are ugly, 2nd its "I'm going to bitch because there are only 5 colors to choose from 3rd "I'm going to bitch because I dont like the theme" 4th "I'm going to bitch because I just want something to bitch about" well ya know what... SPEAK UP but dont do it here Anonymously {very cowardly} ...
I didn't change a thing from my instructions... I wanted the designers to give INPUT.. I never said I *wasn't* going to change the palette or choose the theme that went with it.. I decided NO theme this month because It was either "autumn/fall theme" or "something anti-fall theme", only 2 or 3 people gave any ideas that were anything other than "fall or not fall" but I took the 4 most commented on swatches and came up with those.
if you DONT like it.. DONT look at it.. DONT participate. I've been doing this for 3 years and not ONE person has had the balls enough to confront me to my face {other than anons} on this stupid blog... {I'm only here to defend myself}... I'm always and have always been open to ideas, input etc and I'd say I've done a pretty damn good job of taking into consideration and making changes to the way the blog train is ran.
I'd love to know WHEN I ever bitched or complained about how much "work" goes into the train. Never ONCE have I asked for someone to "kiss my ass" ... and 2 gals HAVE offered to help me and WILL be helping me with the organizing once the swatch is chosen. I am working on getting things more organized so it's easier on them...
I love that there are soo many 2 faced people in this world. Karma's a bitch and it will come back around. I can't please everyone and have no intention of trying.
**AND in response to the store who I got asked to remove the palette from... I guess you'll just find out in September.. it was not just the owners, but several designers that contacted me as soon as the swatch went up. Oh but I guess thats going to make me a "weak person" too right.. because I "let someone else take the swatch and wouldn't let it in the running"... I'm being considerate, something that a lot of you here dont know the meaning of. {I wont be responding again so please feel free to carry on with your "lets bash trish" antics, it wont hurt my feelings any it will be old news next week anyway right?
The third one is the ONLY one I like of the revamped schemes as Trish did them. Go figure. If the 2nd one wins, I won't participate. Have hated that swatch since I first saw it and Trish only made it worse.

The third is the only one you like?! Really?
Curiosity has gotten the better of me. What do you see in that palette? I can't imagine making ANYTHING with it that wouldn't be disgusting, but I am super curious to know what you are seeing. Please explain. :)

funny, but you wouldn't have known you were being bashed here if you didn't read here, too, Trish. talk about two faced. kiss all our asses, before you leave...
Actually, Trish, you did change what you said in your initial post and do something different. You said we'd have either 3 or 5 days to post palettes (confusing, since you posted both numbers in the same thread)... and then you closed it up and started a poll almost exactly 24 hours later. I was really looking forward to submitting a palette, too. So yes, you did change what you said you were going to do.
Oh i never said i didnt read here.. I also have several people I know that DO read here faithfully and tell me when they see my name, so of course I'm going to come and read what was said.. I just said i'd never post anonymously... I'm not a coward!
Trish H. said... ...I didn't change a thing from my instructions...

What about the part where you said we had 5 days to post a swatch? You only put up that post at DST and sent out the newsletter to everyone yesterday. I was hoping to add a swatch but when I got to DST to add mine, you had already posted the poll. I guess that is what got to me. I wanted a chance to have a say in the swatch, and I was following your instructions. But you didn't follow your own instructions.
I do appreciate all of your hard work Trish. But I just wish that I'd had a chance to give my input.

^^^^ AMEN. YOU CAN'T EXPECT PEOPLE NOT TO BE PISSED AT YOU WHEN YOU REALLY DIDN'T TRY VERY HARD TO LISTEN TO OUR INPUT. I FEEL BAD THAT YOU'RE GETTING BASHED SO HARD ON HERE, BUT THEN AGAIN I SORT OF FEEL LIKE YOU BROUGHT IT ON YOURSELF BY DOING VERY LITTLE OF WHAT YOU SAID YOU WOULD DO.
REALLY? we are going to play the whole "It's Trish's fault the palettes are UGLY game" I only added TWO colors to the palettes, and they were pulled FROM the PICTURES that were posted, so give me a freaking break.
______________
1. If you added colors to the palettes, and they still turned out ugly, it is your fault. You're the one who added colors to the palettes. Nobody else. You chose the colors, and honestly you chose poorly. 2. Just because you choose something from a photo, doesn't mean it works in the greater scheme of a palette. So saying "they were pulled FROM the PICTURES" doesn't absolve you. You did the pulling. 3. Moral of the day: you should definitely get someone to help you with palettes in the future, because the last few months' worth have been dismal. Input from designers or not, you have the final say and your final say hasn't said much about your eye for color.
Oh for fuck's sake ENOUGH ALREADY! You designers make me so fricking sick, what petty, small people you are to fucking complain like this over a fucking blog train that a women is doing for fucking fREE!!
Oh for fuck's sake ENOUGH ALREADY! You designers make me so fricking sick, what petty, small people you are to fucking complain like this over a fucking blog train that a women is doing for fucking fREE!!
------------
Um, we're all doing it for free, too, you silly, small-minded idiot. And we're not complaining for no reason... that "women" (didn't know she was plural) asked us for our input, and then 24 hours later took our input away. I'd say we have a right to be a little bit miffed.
How about you stay out of business that doesn't involve you. At all.
Nice language, too. Seems odd that you're so worked up over something that doesn't affect you at all, and that you're not involved in. Unless, of course, you ARE involved in it... (Trish? who said she wouldn't be back?...)
I've participated in this blog train tons of times. Trish compiles a list of blog addresses. The designers work hard too - the designers are more than entitled to voice an opinion. I for one was very happy that things were going to change and we were going to have a chance to have more input on swatch. I have a job and a life outside of designing - but the time I got to the thread on swatch suggestions - it was closed?? What gives Trish?? Why did you close it off? That's what I don't get.
Truth is Trish - if you don't want to run it - don't. I appreciate that you coordinate it - but it's hard to appreciate it when the person you're trying to appreciate keeps complaining about how much they do.
How about you stay out of business that doesn't involve you. At all. ------
Er, someone put that business out here, if you didn't want anyone else involved, you should have kept it in the DCR. By making it 'public', you involved her, like it or not.
I FEEL BAD THAT YOU'RE GETTING BASHED SO HARD ON HERE, ------
Are you joking? This isn't anywhere near a bad bashing, this is tame by comparison to what other people have had to endure on this blog. So far all I see is designers complaining about not being able to provide their input and how they don't like the palettes.
Oh good god, I really wish that we could (once and for all) end the whole "don't post here anonymously, you coward!" thing that we do here... it would be so lovely... WE ALL POST HERE ANONYMOUSLY!!! Good grief. The irony and hypocrisy is actually getting to be hilariously funny.
Can we not agree on this, and stop wasting time typing these silly messages to each other?
Not a one of us is better than any other person here, because... we're... all... here.
Er, someone put that business out here, if you didn't want anyone else involved, you should have kept it in the DCR. By making it 'public', you involved her, like it or not.
The problem about that is the fact that even those who might have read the rules of the DCR and signed them don't honor them so that should say something about those posting who have DCR access. I've never brought anything here out of the DCR and I never will. When I sign a contract I honor that contract. Obviously others just don't get it. For the one running the blog you will never make everyone happy. It's just one of those situations where you are damned if you do and damned if you don't so go with your gut. There will be those complaining but then they always are the same whiners who come here and whine.
Um, we're all doing it for free, too, you silly, small-minded idiot. And we're not complaining for no reason... that "women" (didn't know she was plural) asked us for our input, and then 24 hours later took our input away. I'd say we have a right to be a little bit miffed.
Hey you got 4 frigging swatches. Would you have been happy with 100??? If I was running this blog and found people posting about it here, i'd be pissed too and closed the input. Everyone can take something that is suppose to be fun and make it a life or death situation. Get Real! Grow Up!! This is all BS!!
3. Moral of the day: you should definitely get someone to help you with palettes in the future, because the last few months' worth have been dismal. Input from designers or not, you have the final say and your final say hasn't said much about your eye for color.
That's your personal opinion. Some of us think the swatches picked are just fine. If you think they are ugly don't participate and don't make it miserable for everyone else who think your opinion is in the toilet. Flush it, Shush it, so we can move on.
Can we not agree on this, and stop wasting time typing these silly messages to each other?
Not a one of us is better than any other person here, because... we're... all... here. ------
Agreed! We finally managed to stop the whole pot kettle thing, now if we could stop posting the whole karma is a bitch as well, I'd be a happy camper. Just a suggestion folks.
That's your personal opinion. Some of us think the swatches picked are just fine. If you think they are ugly don't participate and don't make it miserable for everyone else who think your opinion is in the toilet. Flush it, Shush it, so we can move on. --------
And that's your opinion. No need to add the personal, all opinion is personal.
So... find any new designers? I'm loving Jady Day Studio lately.
---------
Good for you. This is a smack blog, not a CT enabling thread. You're not going to change the topic when we're on something we're enjoying. Apparently we're enjoying the whole blog train palette fiasco. Go scrap with your goodies and leave us alone.
Actually palette 3 at DST is my personal fave. If we have to go with an autumn theme then there's a unique orange, a warm green, and I'm intrigued by the teal. Not sure yet if/how I could work with it, but I'm intrigued enough to try if it's chosen. We'll see.
BTW, appreciate the positive feedbk on my alpha (in the first set/page of comments). Thx. :) Mags(Graphics)
Oh i never said i didnt read here.. I also have several people I know that DO read here faithfully and tell me when they see my name, so of course I'm going to come and read what was said.. I just said i'd never post anonymously... I'm not a coward! ------------------------- Go ahead and call it cowardly or hiding, but let’s face it. How many times has a designer come here and posted under their real name and made a complete fool of themselves or come off as a total bitch? Then what usually follows, a bunch of responses stating that they had lost business blah, blah, blah.
This industry has its fair share of catty bitchy women, who will automatically turn their noses up at you if your opinion isn’t theirs or you dare speak out against them. So go ahead call me a coward, but I will be one coward who isn’t losing business because someone doesn’t agree with what I have to say.
i think the thing that really pisses me off more then worrying about a color palette, are all the ungrateful freebie hunters that think it's OK to post on my blog that they don't like the fact that I use 4shared to host my freebies. if you don't like it, then get the *f over it and don't download the damn thing, no matter how much you like it!!
Personally, I blame the bi-monthly blog train idea for perpetuating the freebie "gimme more for less" mentality that plagues this industry. I wish the train would go away. It does little to bring scrappers to community sites. It just keeps the trolls fed. It's like hanging a free crack carrot over their heads every 2 months.
I'm not anti-freebie, but I am anti-freebie in this huge, regular fashion. We need to bring more people into the scrapping industry to SCRAP and share and BUY. Not to spend countless hour upon hour taking freebies and giving nothing in return.
Oh, and Trish. I'm well aware of the things said about Simon (and the other reviewers here) by your camp. If you want people to tell you things to your face, perhaps you should start practicing what you preach.
I've been thinking about something in the past few days, while stopping through DST and also this blog, and I'm going to go ahead and say it.
I will bet you that Trish and "the other camp" (as Simon just referred to them; i.e. people in the DCR who keep "counseling" designers not to ask for reviews here, from "faceless trolls") would probably be really surprised if they found out who Simon, Piers, Randi, et. al are in real life.
Now, I have no idea as to their true identities, nor do I want to know, but I will say this: I have a pretty good idea about what echelon of designer/etc. each of them is, within this industry, and I will bet you that any of the naysayers over at DST would be thrilled to get an honest critique from one of these reviewers, if they had no idea the person was Simon, or Piers, or Randi, etc. (in other words, if these reviewerse IRL with their IRL design name were to offer up a review or some mentoring).
Are their reviews and mannerisms and demeanor here on this blog rough around the edges at times? Yes. We all know about the argument over the use of "gross". But have most of us also agreed wholeheartedly (I said most, not all), and found their insights to be on-target and helpful? Yes. It's been posted here multiple times.
This blog is not all bad, and it's a really helpful resource for designers who want to stay in-the-know and who also want unbiased, honest feedback about any issue. Not just reviews of work. And I think we all know it.
Especially you, Trish. You yourself admitted that you read this blog, and I am positive it's not just when "trusted friends" tell you to read it. And by the way, you don't seem to view the fact that those "trusted friends" read this blog as a character flaw... so why is it a character flaw that the rest of us are here?
Oh for fuck's sake ENOUGH ALREADY! You designers make me so fricking sick, what petty, small people you are to fucking complain like this over a fucking blog train that a women is doing for fucking fREE!!
--------------
I just laughed out loud when I read this. Why? Why even bother with using the word "fricking" if you're going to pepper the rest of your grammar-nightmare sentence with "fuck" "fuck" and more "fuck"?!?! Ha, LMAO.
^^^ Oh my, and there is yet another lesson about posting under your own name around this place. We say all the time that we're not all bitches here, and it's true. But there obviously are bitches, too, amongst us...
I've visited several blog trains and even taken part in one from time to time. But all this drama about the upcoming DST blog train has me wondering why designers even do them. Is it exposure? Marketing? It seems like a whole lot of work for not much reward at all.
This blog is not all bad, and it's a really helpful resource for designers who want to stay in-the-know and who also want unbiased, honest feedback about any issue. Not just reviews of work. ---------------------------- I'm choosing to not post anon on this one.. I agree, I did just this.. I asked Simon for an honest critique of my designs, which I got.. Was I completely happy with everything that was mentioned? No, but it's not going to be all good all of the time.. It really helped me to have that honest review, as I took it as a learning experience and used the suggestions to make some changes to my designs and try to better myself as a designer..
I want to know why anyone would care about Trish anyway. She's a washed-up designer and an unsuccessful store owner. Seems to me she's just pissed off because people would rather take advice from someone anonymous (who yes, most people seem to agree with) than from her "face." People who go around bitching should really have their own sparkling credentials to back them up.
I also want to know how Trish still has access to the DCC anyway. It specifically says that "This forum is reserved for members of the digital scrapbooking industry who are actively selling their products, teaching, or owning stores."
She does none of those things. Seems to me all she has done is bring drama and nothing business related.

Geez 11:50, ease up a bit on her a tiny bit. What has she actually done to you that you feel like you have to say rude things about her like calling her washed up? Seems unnecessary. Maybe she has done something to you personally, which would seem to support the whole hidden agenda thing so many people talk about here.
Trish is just trying to organize a blog train. She's not trying to take over the digi world. Yes, she could be better organized and it would be nice if she stuck to her own rules. But it looks like she is trying to take suggestions to make it better. She is even taking suggestions from us to make it better, even though some of us have trashed her repeatedly. If I were Trish, I don't know that I'd be able to see past the nasty things that had been said about me, and still try to take on some of the suggestions as well.
She hasn't gotten the blog train set up perfectly yet, but obviously she's working on it. If you actually care about how the train is run, why don't you try making helpful suggestions, rather than just rude comments.
Dear Mags Graphics: I've seen your designs and, well, of course you would like palette #3. Awful, just awful.
Well... that just makes me want to try something with it all the more! :) Feel free to elaborate on above comment; will take your constructive feedback under advisement. A fresh perspective is always appreciated.
Someone told me that Michelle Batton (Funky Playground owner) is working as an admin at TDC now. Why would a store owner work at another store & help promote the other store's designs? Seems counterproductive. Is there a story here?
I am guessing from the Twitter posts I read last week that Litabells is going to Scrap Orchard.
Lita is nice and all and a tremendous scrapper and makes hella gorgeous paper items, but as far as digital designers go, I don't think she is as good a designer as people seem to think she is. I think it's a case of being friends with the right people for her.

I can only speak for myself but I like doing the Blog Train. Sometimes I get stuck and this helps challenge me to do something maybe with a swatch I normally wouldn't use or a theme I would never use. It's also away to do some free advertising and let people who don't know you maybe get to know you, see your quality etc. Unfortunately no one else has stood up and said they would do the blog train though some have offered Trish help. When someone does things for free, it is usually a thankless job because there is always someone who isn't happy about something rather then taking what's given as a challenge. They might actually learn something.
I am just an average scrapper, not a designer. I am not active on any CT's, although I have been in the past. I am not active in any "scrapbook community", I don't post on the message boards, and I don't post my layouts online anymore. I read the Digi boards for entertainment, and am constantly amazed at what people share on the internet. I freely admit to reading the scrapbook smack blogs, it is a guilty pleasure.

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 800 of 2374 Newer› Newest»Did you actually buy it, and are posting because you've seen the files up close? Or are you judging from the 100% shots in additional images in the store? Just curious.
Either way, I think her strength has always been in her extracting (which is usually flawless), and I wouldn't ever buy element templates from her anyway. When it comes to extracted elements, she's usually awesome. JIMO.
--------
I was looking at it - the 100% details were not good.
---------------
Quality is determined by everything you have in your store.
_______________________________

------
Gotcha! Thanks.
The old DSP freebies are in the freebie gallery, the new ones are in the store you get them free with purchase.
There's nothing like contacting a well known (SSD) designer with a quality question and not receiving a response.
Too bad I'm not bitch enough to name names here. I just want to vent.

If you only just contacted her, maybe she has a policy of no computer during the weekend and only does business things during the business week.
As for bitchy enough, you brought up in the first place.

Why not give it a try, you may be surprised. I've had issues with actions before and it was a well known designer, she helped me out straight away.

It was 3-4 weeks ago.

Fair enough. Did you contact her more than once? I'm assuming you did.

Wendy (SBG) is good with responding.

Twice.
whenever I've tried to contact a designer and got no response after multiple emails..pms' at the shop, etc. - I use the store Contact form. Its worked everytime...and then of course, the designer will say something like they didn't get the pm, or....my emails must have gone to the spam folder...you name it. but....i got what I needed in the end. and the designer lost a customer.

Ditto this ^^
Also, to the OP: why come here and post something like this, but refuse to name names? This is a smack blog, not a counseling hotline. We don't want to hold your hand and make you feel better because you're having a rough time... we want to hear who sold you crap, and what was wrong with it? Otherwise, please don't waste our time.

I've emailed La Grier before, twice, on a quality issue and I have never received a reply.
As a designer, I've had customer emails go to spam before, so I'd post on the Facebook fan page just to be sure they got it. May make you feel a bit like a stalker, but I would hate for people to think I'm not responding to their email when really, I just never got it.
^^^
Um, from a designer's perspective... I would NEVER post on another designer's fan page with a problem/issue, unless I had already contacted her 2-3 times and received no response (including trying to contact her through the store owner). Posting on a FB fan page is a dirty, BS maneuver, IMO... unless all else has failed. It's like publicly outing someone for an issue that affects their livelihood.
^^^^^
Didn't make the original suggestion, but I see nothing wrong with it.
Yah, right.
It's like publicly outing someone for an issue that affects their livelihood.
^^^^^^^^^^^^
Well, if it really does, why would she be so slack with her email then?!? I always check my spam folders, at least once a day.
And I agree anyone could just post something neutral on the FB page like: check your email, pls.
You can also send a private message on FB so nobody but the designer would see it.

I got that message too and was just about to come here to ask. LOL
Challenge 3 is up. Make 3 alphas based on week 1 mini.

Yep, sorry.

Fuck you.

Whoa! I'm not the pp but seriously, there's nothing in that comment that warrants such nastiness. Easy, girl.
^^^
Wow - is it someone's time of the month.
^^^^^^
I sure hope you don't bitch and moan that your sales aren't what you'd like them to be if you're using 4shared, since it does not work at all for some of your potential customers. Personally I have no problem with mediafire or box, what's wrong with using a variety of hosting sites and letting people choose which link to click?
...and it all comes full circle. I can't believe we're back on this argument, yet again. LMAO.
love that Terra aka SugarKissed posted in the DCR asking for the addy to this blog.

I don't use 4shared - or any other "wait to download" hosting.
Kindest Regards,
Terra
well, Terra - your designs aren't bad...but you do come off as a know it all - at DST and now in the chat at DSA. and no, I'm NOT in the 'contest'.
So thank you.
;) youre welcome. not everyone here is nasty. most of us 'aint' too bad at all.
Wow, Maya has monopolized the first page and a half of SBG's new releases with that fugly "collection"
I actually kinda get the appeal... It just needs more color...

Wow.

Interesting that someone brought up Meg, because she's always rubbed me the wrong way, too. She's got a tough personality, that's for sure.
Bought any shitty product lately? Any really good ones?
Terra came and tried to make amends - true - but it's still not a good idea to sign in here as yourself. She could just as easily been smacked - bad. Trish was and she didn't deserve it at all.
So Terra - be forewarned that:
n answer to the questions:

Why so Bitchy?
Why so judgmental?
Please feel free to save this and copy/paste every time the question comes up, it will save us all a lot of time and typing.

How stupid is it of Captivated Visions to put the exact same Blog Train Blog color palette up for voting for her Build a Kit products?
If she liked the palette so much, why didn't she participate? But then again, if she ever used an original color palette, I'd die of shock.
That color palette originally came from a design inspiration website. It's been floating around Pinterest for a while now. It seems like fair game for her to use to me. Though, obviously she hasn't seen the blog train, or she'd know it turned out to be a difficult palette to work with.
Best place to get tips on scrapbooking?

Or maybe she's a good designer who can create something unique with a palette that other designers couldn't

Very curious to see if Captivated visions can make something more out of that palette. Wonder if she even realizes it's a bit saturated at this point?
^^^^
I would have to agree.
Look at the attitude of some on this blog. They tell people to try google or look back to previous posts and looking back to previous posts on this blog is a PITA.

---------------
This is true in many forum communities, and is sorta an "unwritten rule" (even written, some places).

Anna Aspnes has relocated to drum roll .........Oscraps!! now that I understand.
looking forward to the reviews of oscraps... but I may be a bit biased as its my shop of choice at the moment.

It actually doesn't affect your time at all, if you choose not to respond to it. When you CHOOSE to respond to/help the people that ask the same questions over and over and are lazy and unwilling to "do their own work," you're actually the one being disrespectful of your own time. Just saying.

Yes, there's definitely a right and a wrong way to treat people in forums, regardless of whether you think they're an idiot.

Amen to this.
Oh just ask. Not everyone here is a bitch.

Very True. Some of us don't have our heads up our butts.
So ask!
Seriously. If some anonymous person hurts your feelings, then you're being entirely too sensitive.
IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK BITCHY. Even if you are "in the right".

And hence the fakery that most everyone here complains about.
So it boils down to this
if you are honest, you're a bitch
if you are nice, you're being fake
if you are honest, you're a bitch
if you are nice, you're being fake
========================
if you answer someone's question you're a know it all.
wv - ummen (sounds like amen LOL)
Lets not forget this rule too:
if you know about something dishonest happening and you
A) don't post publicly about it - you are a coward, hiding behind your anonymity, and are clearly part of the problem.

I really wish that designers knew better...
she used it for her first round entry too, so she didn't pick it only because it was first place

WTF w/ "mushrooms, beach walks, sunsets, country roads, birds, etc." ???
who combines those items together in one kit? weird.
If she's such a bitch, why is everyone friending Stacy Carlson on Facebook all of a sudden?
Yes, yes. I realize not EVERYONE, don't get literal. :)

I was not aware that one person constituted ALL. I learnt something new today.
And just so you know, she used that packaging in the first challenge, before any winners were posted.
Does the owner there still trap her designers with that ridiculous 6 month non-compete contract?

How is it a trap when the designers know that the clause exists?
I was not aware that one person constituted ALL. I learnt something new today.

obviously it wasn't English that you 'learnt' today
Sigh.

Shouldn't that be readily apparent in the kit itself?

That's true !! I have almost the same DL as the previous one.

I'm going to guess they're adding the color palette b/c their alpha is supposed to coordinate w/ their week one mini and they're trying to make it easier on the judges? Just a thought.

Link me up!
^^^
I find myself going to my stash from Shabby Princess, even when using other kits for other projects.
By request, Oscraps - some of it
By golly, this store has a ton of designers!

Oh for the love of god.
Please, designers w/ any taste at all, go vote and keep us from having to work with that monstrosity.
oh, surprising. during the planning thread yesterday I hated the first one that got posted, but now that it's been tweaked (#1) and had some warmth added to it, it's looking pretty good. well, good compared to the rest of those... ugh. she sure did manage to mess up the chihuahua palette that everyone was loving so much, it's awful now. where did that peach color come from? yikes.
Please, designers w/ any taste at all, go vote and keep us from having to work with that monstrosity.
---------------------------------
If you hate the colors so much, then DON'T participate! Not like it's mandatory.
Those color palettes look nothing like the ones suggested. bummer.
Why are you telling us? Tell her!

-----------
From her original post, yesterday afternoon:
"Here is how this will work. You have 5 days to post any swatches you would like to see used for October's Train.
Follow these rules:
-1 swatch per designer
-Give a "theme" to go with your swatch (one word or several descriptive words)
-if you are NOT posting a swatch, but like one that has been posted, please QUOTE their post and include it into your post, so that I can visibly see the "most liked swatches".
-At the end of 3 days I will EDIT This post and # the most popular swatches, for voting."
...and then she didn't allow people 3 days OR 5 days, for the posting of palettes OR the voting.
What gives? It's hard to defend you on this one, Trish, as you didn't even do what you said you were going to do... and then you hardly used the palettes that people did have time to post in the barely-24hrs the thread was up/active.
Oh, Trish, Trish, Trish. F-ugly!

Bummer.
Might have to sit this one out, ouch.
There is another blog train at digiscrapforum.com. It's small, but has potential. I don't like the theme this month, so I didn't sign p, but it is on opposite months as the BTB.
7 people have really voted for #3? I can't even believe that.
What store has been planning a collab for months that Trish pulled the gypsy theme for?

Good question, I have been curious about that, too. Like, how would she know? Is she selling somewhere now that ESS has folded?

I think the adjusted scheme that Trixie Scraps posted was nice.
Moo.

^^^^^
Me too, but then, they couldn't whine, could they?
REALLY? we are going to play the whole "It's Trish's fault the palettes are UGLY game" I only added TWO colors to the palettes, and they were pulled FROM the PICTURES that were posted, so give me a freaking break.

Curiosity has gotten the better of me. What do you see in that palette? I can't imagine making ANYTHING with it that wouldn't be disgusting, but I am super curious to know what you are seeing. Please explain. :)

funny, but you wouldn't have known you were being bashed here if you didn't read here, too, Trish. talk about two faced. kiss all our asses, before you leave...
I didn't change a thing from my instructions
------------
Actually, Trish, you did change what you said in your initial post and do something different.

AMEN.
I do appreciate all of your hard work Trish. But I just wish that I'd had a chance to give my input.

I do believe that Trish should NOT have posted about this blog at DST - sounds like a couple of the newbies here.
Yes, Trish sure isn't having a good week here on this blog. Wow.
I FEEL BAD THAT YOU'RE GETTING BASHED SO HARD ON HERE,
------
Are you joking? This isn't anywhere near a bad bashing, this is tame by comparison to what other people have had to endure on this blog. So far all I see is designers complaining about not being able to provide their input and how they don't like the palettes.
I'd say I've done a pretty damn good job of taking into consideration and making changes to the way the blog train is ran
-----------
Good for you that you can say that, because apparently others can't say the same. Self praise is no recommendation.
Karma's a bitch and it will come back around.

No it won't because karma is not a bitch. FYI, if you really do believe in karma, you'd better watch it yourself.

That might actually mean something to anyone here if you weren't also posting anon. Who's a coward?
So... find any new designers? I'm loving Jady Day Studio lately.

That's your personal opinion. Some of us think the swatches picked are just fine. If you think they are ugly don't participate and don't make it miserable for everyone else who think your opinion is in the toilet. Flush it, Shush it, so we can move on.

Good for you. This is a smack blog, not a CT enabling thread. You're not going to change the topic when we're on something we're enjoying. Apparently we're enjoying the whole blog train palette fiasco. Go scrap with your goodies and leave us alone.

Go to DST and enable your designer -- not the place here.
WV - anass
Actually palette 3 at DST is my personal fave. If we have to go with an autumn theme then there's a unique orange, a warm green, and I'm intrigued by the teal. Not sure yet if/how I could work with it, but I'm intrigued enough to try if it's chosen. We'll see.
BTW, appreciate the positive feedbk on my alpha (in the first set/page of comments). Thx.

Go ahead and call it cowardly or hiding, but let’s face it.

What are you talking about?
Wow.
The whole Trish thing.
Ha, LMAO.
Dear Mags Graphics:
I've seen your designs and, well, of course you would like palette #3. Awful, just awful.
^^^
Oh my, and there is yet another lesson about posting under your own name around this place.

I'm choosing to not post anon on this one..
Kudos to you, Roseytoes. Best of luck!
Seems to me all she has done is bring drama and nothing business related.

she kept ess open to sell her own designs there instead of sell the store or close it
Geez 11:50, ease up a bit on her a tiny bit.
I don't know Trish and don't care to. No hidden agenda. Some people are so paranoid. Thanks for the update on her ESS store, though.

Well... that just makes me want to try something with it all the more! :)
Feel free to elaborate on above comment; will take your constructive feedback under advisement. A fresh perspective is always appreciated.
It is not Elemental Scrap it is Enchanted Studio Scrap.
Someone told me that Michelle Batton (Funky Playground owner) is working as an admin at TDC now. Why would a store owner work at another store & help promote the other store's designs? Seems counterproductive. Is there a story here?
there is a story behind it, but nothing that can be talked about until the beginning of the month.

don't know where you heard that info, but you are off. nothing like that has been mentioned.
"Is that why Litabells is closing her TDC store?"
Is that why Litabells is closing her TDC store?

Good God, she just 'returned from retirement'.

Great scrapper - but nothing original as a designer - not that there's any quality issues - just kind of standard
