More Space

I saw the infamous "sexy" layout. Unfortunately I didn't have the sense to save it off for future discussion. My first thought was I hope that is a stock photo, because having a third party capture that image might be more awkward than posting it in a scrapbook gallery. Second, the title didn't work for me, it was something like "every life is precious". I think a more appropriate title may have been "Do me now".

Did you all rush out to buy the kit to scrap your last sexcapade? Any recommendations for kits appropriate for scrapping your after hours adventures. Does anybody really scrap that?

Carry on with whatever is going on...CU sharing, DST banning, digital art vs. digital scrapbooking, Christina Renee's grand re-opening, GSO thread abuse....

what is with all the promoing? it's really not fooling anybody, pretending to just be someone(s) very interested in a particular store. a smack blog seems like an unlikely place to find out about sale dates, right?

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I read here much more frequently than I do DST.

Oh great. 12:36 is a pirate. Just as bad as a TAGGER.

August 20, 2009 3:06 PM

That was a stupid thing to say. How does using freebies make someone a pirate?? She didn't say she used "freebies" illegally distributed by other pirates. She said she uses freebies. I'm sure she meant the legit freebies offered by the actual creators. Talk about jumping the gun and making stupid assumptions! Grow a brain!

What's wrong with you greedy people who charge a fortune, forcing us to wait for a sale?

Don't u think that statement is a bit dramatic? The average kit is around $5 bucks or so! What a ridiculous thing to say.

I for one will keep charging a fortune for my hard work. :)

"SA on the whole has gone down the tubes....
And since they changed their forums, there has been almost zero participation. Nancie made a big oops there."
***

How did Nancie change the forum? Do you mean in appearance, or otherwise? I know for a while I avoided SA because it was so hard to read! With light gray type on a white background, it gave me a headache to try to read it. But now it looks like they have made the type darker again. Much better.

Uh... so what did this mean?
"because all I have to do is wait a week or two and it will be available absolutely free"

Divine Digital rocks. Beautiful, customer friendly site. Amazing designers with styles ranging all tastes. Now I know why it get so much web traffic.

Anyone who says different just has a chip on their shoulder. Keep trying to convince yourself it's just the freebies though.

Oh, puh-leeeze! People can say someone's work stinks without having any kind of "chip on their shoulder".

"Keep trying to convince yourself its just the freebies though."

What the hell does that mean? What does that have to do with divine digital? (or anything else for that matter!)
What am I trying to convince myself "its just the freebies"? Huuuhh??

I think you better lay off the wine for tonight dear, you're not making any sense. Run along to bed now. ;)

No, I don't think it was a ridiculous thing to say as I was being just as dramatic as the person I was replying to. Besides, where is the average kit $5? I really want to know as the kits I see are around $6 to $7

Getting rid of a lot of the challenges, getting rid of the foreign language forums and a few other things. I can't remember them all as I just stopped going.

And yes to the appearance as well.

Please show me the evidence where web traffic relates to sales.

Anonymous said...

Web trafic doesn't equate to sales. How many of those site visitors are just that - visiting and not buying. Apart from the owners, none of you have a clue how much revenue any store takes in so stop with the stupid traffic statistics already.

Anonymous said...

^^^^^^^^^

Word! The person or persons continually using the web traffic stats to show how popular a store is is only showing how insecure they are.

Unfortunately, a lot of the community there were not that welcoming. Tracy and Gina were ok, but a lot of the others just stayed in their little CT cliques. It didn't stand a chance.

Oh fuck off and die, why don't you? I wasn't whining. I was merely replying to an idiot in the same manner that she was using.

Hey...I don't think we are greedy because we want sales. I don't even buy clothing at full price. I shop places like Kohl's and Ross. Call me greedy if you want. But it is why I don't have credit card debt and I still own nice things. I was always taught that "if you respect money it will respect you".

Gina does post at MSA....but not like she used to, you know? She deserves a frigging life but I always loved reading about what she was up to. She actually inspired me to get things done around my house and to get out and do stuff. Strange that a complete stranger could have so much influence on my life.

Web Traffic...

I don't know anything about the stats. But I do know that I frequent sites and don't make a purchase. And it is weird because I will set out because I want to buy something. Have you ever actually been in the mood to shop and not found anything you wanted to buy?? Strange but true. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places. But sometimes I will even have a g.c. from a designer and I can't find anything in her shop to buy. But then I've had the same problem in Macy's so maybe it is just me!!

that's just plain lazy and that makes a lot of designers lazy

I prefer it this way. When I papered scrapped all my solids had the same texture depending on where I bought my pack of paper. It's perfectly ok that you don't like that but I'm saying that there are people that prefer it that way.

Not really. Look at how many people follow the movie stars or watch Reality TV shows.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of reality shows..I saw the first episode of MTV's Real World way back when. It has been the only 10 minutes of reality TV I've ever watched. I rolled my eyes then and I was barely in my 20s.

Tha gal at PDP is Mulberry Lane PAPERS. Dykan is just Mulberry Lane. Not sure if one and the same but I doubt it. The styles were different.

If it IS a different person, they've certainly chosen an unfortunate design name. Perhaps she isn't aware of The Adventures of Amanda......

what I meant is that any new trend or style in kits always comes out as freebies soon after it is available in a paid kit. again, why bother with pirated kits when freebies are available out in the open....not to mention when stores have design contests, blog trains and similar promotions

She had the name before AD did as she's been designing for awhile. She shouldn't have to change it.

I so so so so sooooooooo wish I knew who you were! If you are a designer as it comes off as you are, I would not buy from you at all. All you designers on here complain to us (the customers) about hiding behind anoyminity and you guys all do the same damn thing.

I, too, was on a spending freeze. The sale at CatScrap got me out of it. I am just waiting until Monday when their kits are 40% off. So paying $6-$7 for a kit is high. I'd like to spend $5 or less. And yes, I WILL wait for a sale. I do when I buy anything else, why should digi kits be any different.

It's funny the mentality of the designers are. They feel like they are worth the $6 or $7 or $10 kit, but what if you sold that kit for a lower price? Would you sell more? Or the same?

I guess, but given how easy it is to recolor a solid paper. It's just annoying. Especially in a kit I paid $7 for.

So what do you thing the reason DST has fallen in popularity?

I really havent found useful info in the last year. I find more info here than there.

I am not a CT person and I get really tired of CT stuff being rammed down our throat.......
"I am looking for a blue bird of happiness kit" Then wham-bam a blue bird kit...........

Some of the ads are months out of date........

The Gallery doesn't hold much interest to me...Way too many things are not in a manner that I would not scrap. I prefer a gallery that I might actually get some useful ideas.............

I think one of the reasons I have turned off DST is because there is so much CU items and I am really a kit shopper...............

What do you think? Why has DST lost its luster?

Anonymous said...

I am a CT who uploads at DST, and get the occasional comments.
(I must say, I am wowed at some of the folks who are faithful in the gallery giving comments)I am not a DST plant or rainbow happy girl (whatever you call it)
My first CT, the designer asked me to put my stuff there...I was frightened...because it seemed it was the creme de' la creme.

I personally think all the forums have lost their luster.
Seems everyone is a designer...or a wannabe designer.

I see the difference of some of the "more established" designers...
but it seems the CTs are getting their names out so when they debut as a designer they are already known.

I CT for some more established and to me, hecka talented in the field.
I have done one kit calls on a whim for a few "up and coming"
and it's all bought and recolored, reclustered and spewed crap.
One person comes out with the ladder, another does, then one sells the ladder as CU, then 412 kits are out with the ladder. And someone gives one away, and now, everybody has the damn ladder! STOP the Madness...
oh please...
DST has lost its luster, because the scrap world is over saturated with the exact same stuff.
oh it's late, I am snarky and snippy and all those other terms but how I love to see original works made by a designer.
Sewing a dress with a pattern from simplicity does not make me a designer of clothes, it makes me a seamstress.
Making a kit with a bought pattern of exactness, does NOT make you a designer, it makes you _______??
bah, I don't even know what word to use...smack on or you fill in the blank?

I so want to do this with my name, but wimped out. Those who know me, smile...I think I snapped!

Anonymous said...

Why has DST lost it's luster?

The advertising
People changing their priorities, I know I have
The advertising
The huge amount of NSBR talk at one stage that seemed to deal only with medical problems and most of them gross
The advertising
The huge amount of CTs that have turned designer solely from the DST front
The advertising
