"This blog has very little to do with the whole of the digi community"

What do you think? I really have no idea how many people post here. I am sure there is a mix of store owners, designers and scrappers. I seriously doubt there are many Digi Newbies hanging out here. It is not like this blog is linked up on the top 50 Digi sites.
Do people really not post layouts in galleries because of fear of backlash from the blog? I doubt it. I do think there have been some issues that have come to light because of the blog, some good, some not so good. Lots of speculation here, some truth, some lies. I tend to believe where there is smoke there is fire. That is why the same names seem to appear on the blog.

Quoted from previous thread:
"This blog can most definitely intimidate people into not posting at digi sites! Someone posts a LO or responds to a thread and there are pages and pages on this blog picking people apart, drawing false conclusions and outright lies.

People talk and share their stories of what is done to people here and of course some people will be skittish to share their personal photographs/layouts/feelings. You have to be naive to think that doesn't happen. There are people with feelings on the other side of the computer!"

It's not a hidden link. I'm not on Cori's CT and guest designers at the Pickle have the word Guest in them. It's not that hard to find designers in stores or designers to come. For instance, guest designer at SA for November is Vinnie Pearce. Here's the link:

http://www.scrapartist.com/shoppe/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=74

You just change the number at the end after manufacturerid, anyone can do it.

Anonymous said...

I can see three products if I click thru on that shabby pickle link

I don't care where Cori goes, good luck to whatever place takes her on. Like her style, but she's batty as hell.

Come to think of it, I don't care where anyone goes. I'm really really really sick and tired of shop hopping. I like a buck as much as anybody, but it seems like there's no love anymore, just "where am I gonna get more money". Guess what? You move, you don't get more money, you think you can get more somewhere else, guess what again? You still don't make any more money. Maybe you could be consistent with putting out new stuff? Maybe you could be responsible? Maybe you could be interesting as far as scrapbooking goes and keep the rest of it to yourself? I don't know. Just thinking...

Speaking of moving, Ruby Rynne is the newest designer at SBG. I think she'll be a nice addition there.

May be this didn't work for you but it doesn't mean it doesn't work for others. My newest store is my best selling so your theory kind of bites the dust. Sometimes designers move because the atmosphere isn't what they thought it would be. it happens and a designer shouldn't be condemned moving on. Designers grown and feel the need for change just like anybody else.

I smell another Joedee-eque scam in the making. The smart money says that Royanna is doing this to avoid paying her designers yet again.

And why not? It worked for Joedeee, and as long as all these scams are kept hush-hush and only talked about on the smack blogs, it will keep happening.

I love that angel. I got mine in the Chic Spring kit, and I've used it in a few different layouts. My opinion of Catherine Designs just sank a bit since she probably isn't the one who actually made it--it was my favorite element in the kit. I'll still give her props for her taste.

You must be really new to say things like that! Every single designer buys CU elements and put them in their kits. This is what they are for. Try designing and see how much time it takes to come up with a kit that nobody wants to pay over $3 for. Then, you'll see why designers use other people's stuff to complete their kits . It's called "saving time".

Anonymous said...

So, I see Flergs is still making money out of copyrighted movies such as Twilight and New Moon. Geez! When is she gonna stop? And she's the first one to scream piracy when her kits get shared. She is such an hypocrite.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if any customer information was compromised in the Divine Digital "hack"??????

Anonymous said...

I'm sure there will be some crazy sob story out of Royanna and crew soon. You know, some big tragedy or catastrophic illness or she'll be homeless because of the hack. I wonder if she ever worries that she's actually tempting fate with all of her tragic dramas?

Anonymous said...

I think Royanna has a desperate need for attention and sympathy. It's more like a mental illness and I feel kind of sorry for her. I followed her years ago, back when she was a designer at 3S and before she started DD. Even then there was always some story to garner sympathy, like poor health, etc. It just seems to be the thread that carries on: money issues, site issues, big dramas, etc etc - always something new. True, she has a very loyal circle of friends and colleagues, but how many of them know the real situation? It just seems odd that one single person has had to endure so much "hardship" - tempting Karma, or already receiving payback?

I am a designer over there well was. I am not reloading my stuff if and when the site comes back but you better believe that I will be sending her my receipts to get my pay. Thats the good thing about xcart. I get all my sales notifications and I will be asking for what I earned. She has yet another sob story on fb saying this is going to put her family back to sleeping in their car. This is really pathetic.

I know a lot of people who make kits 100% of CU products (not me, I never said I did. I said I use some CU to complete my kits) and they sell 50-100 of the same kits. So, obviously, some customers really don't care about that.

I already see a DSD forum at Scrap Orchard, so they obviously have something in the works, but they're not on the "Master List". Maybe it's just that stores and designers aren't too interested in advertising through carinspixels this year.

Anonymous said...

you'd be stupid to post your sales a week in advance. THat's a sure-fire way to not sell ANYTHING between now and then. Perhaps carinspixel should hold off on her thread until people are ready to have their sales tank...

Anonymous said...

Actually I think Ruby is a nice addition to SBG. Personally I've never purchased anything from her before, but I downloaded the free kitchen kit that she made available thru the Daily Scrapper site a few weeks ago. I must say I really like it, I've scrapped quite a few family recipes with them. I took a gander in her store, and not too much is my style, but that can be said for alot of other designers out there. Who knows, she'll probably do well there. I tend to lean more towards the styles of Phuong Ton and Veronica Spriggs at SBG, but Ruby's stuff is definitely not crap, that's for sure. Not everyone is a young gal in this hobby, and not into the current trendier designers. It's all a matter of taste, and we're all different.
I certainly don't understand what about Ruby has some so uptight, I do remember all that drama she opened up about Amanda Dykan but she did it in a respectful way and was not in any way rude about it. She just wanted to bring something to our attention, and I'm glad she did. I may not be a customer (yet, anyway) but I certainly respect that lady.

WTF with SunshineArtz CU TOU? Basically, "Use my CU stuff, you have to give the entire kit you made--not just the stuff made with my CU products--free."

That seems like a sure fire way to not have anyone download your stuff.

I don't see it saying that at all. She says you can use the stuff to make PU kits for sale or as freebies, but as she is giving the CU item free she would like a free copy of the product you make with it.

How in the world can you possibly know that? She operates in a way that creates maximum drama. It is true she did expose a thief but she also damaged the reputation of innocent people in the process. There was a much more professional way she could have handled her suspicions about the Dykan affair. As for her designs...eh...she is competent but creatively mediocre.

Anonymous said...

Whose reputation got damaged other than Dykan's?

Anonymous said...

Opeysmama thinks her reputation was damaged, which is why she has such a rod up her ass about Ruby. The reality is that Opeysmama has only ruined her own reputation by being such a hardcore bitch.

Anonymous said...

Opeysmama's reputation certainly was damaged by that episode. But not because of Ruby did or said, by what a twat Opeysmama made of herself in the way she conducted a campaign to try and get the whole thing hushed up. I noticed she did go and whine at DSA about how 'hurt' she was by Dykan's scam afterwards, but she never did have the good grace to face up to the truth and/or admit her mistake at DST. THAT'S what screwed her 'reputation' as far as I am concerned.

So discounting Opeysmama, name someone 1.16, if you can. Bet you can't.

Anonymous said...

damaged? damaged? wow? I must have missed those particular threads...
please I'm sure the damaged party (or parties) probably have them memorized or at least know the link(s).
Let's see the damage Ruby caused to said innocent parties. As I have watched on the sidelines some of the CT members move on without damage, some picked up other CTs, some are designing themselves (and I can imagine learned from the experience of amanda and would be good designers to CT for).
So, perhaps the damaged party was 1/2 cracked already, and the stress of being wrong caused the damage? Just a thought...?

I know a lot of people who make kits 100% of CU products (not me, I never said I did. I said I use some CU to complete my kits) and they sell 50-100 of the same kits. So, obviously, some customers really don't care about that.

November 1, 2009 6:07 PM
------------------------------

If you really must know I take about a day to make a kit and sell a minimum of 50 of any one kit the majority of the time. I make a reasonable income out of designing because my stuff is original and I don't spend a ton of money on CU products.

I hate music on blogs too, but I can put up with it, sometimes, it's their blog. However, I really hate music on commercial websites. So many photographers, especially those scrappers who have turned photographer, who have music on their page and there's no way to turn it off! So unprofessional. I was on a website last week and she had really nice textures for a reasonable price. But, she had music, no way to turn it off so she lost a sale!

This has been going on for years. It was even the cause of some major drama at DST back in the day. *GASP* Because someone dared to ask that very same question. Nothing like having your mommy come running to "defend you" when someone points out bad business practices.

Lots of us gave up on her a long time ago because she just keeps doing the same things over and over.

Anonymous said...

3:58--honest question: If you'll put up with music in order to read someone's blog, why wouldn't you put up with music long enough to get some good textures? I know it's a business, but you'd probably spend less time there getting one item than reading a blog (more than once?) and having to put up with the cheesy tunes. ??

Anonymous said...

^^^^^

Honest answer, I said I SOMETIMES put up with music on a blog, but generally I don't. I can usually find the off button on a blog. If someone does have music on their blog, I don't go back, ever.

In the end, I found some other textures that were just as good and they were free and there was no music!

I have a tremendous dislike for blogs with music. I just hit the volume mute on my computer.

I hate when photogs have music on their sites. The photos can and should speak for themselves, and if there's music I'm thinking "what, the photos can't evoke the emotion you're looking for on their own?" I know most who do it look at it as an enhancement but geeze.

It's especially annoying when they ask for opinions, EVERYONE tells them they hate music on sites, and then they put it on anyway.

I work from home on my laptop and require wearing headphones for my job. 99% of the time, I need to have the volume up pretty high to be able to hear what I need to hear correctly. When I'm taking a break and surfing around, I normally just leave my phones on. NOTHING turns me off more than going to a website with music because it usually blasts my ear drums out. It's because of this, I stopped visiting scrap blogs pretty much altogether, except for those I know have no annoying music or other sounds.

I can't help it, I love her stuff, and I'll always be a fan no matter. Shoot me! There are lots of designers that mimic her, but she was one of the first paper designers I became acquainted with. I just like her style.

I heard that DD Katie looks over everything DD designers attempt to put in their stores, and if it even slightly resembles anything she's ever made (or is probably thinking of making) she accuses the designer or copying her and won't allow the design to be uploaded.

I get the impression she's a tad controlling. And probably a bit insane. I think she's one of those people that most likely does not sleep.

But she seems to be very successful. Ala Martha Stewart, I guess, who only sleeps 4 hours a night.

I guess I'm happy being well-rested and mediocre. :)

Yes, Jen Wilson's elements are pretty bad.

I am scrapping though, so that's good.

I thought last year's was skimpy compared to the year before, so this year must be pretty pathetic.

Anonymous said...

I was disappointed. I've found 1 kit I really want so far, and one that I'm not drooling over but could put to good use. I usually don't buy, but I even scoured the freebies and none of those are appealing.

It's been a long time since any of the freebies looked good enough to download...is this just b/c I've been around a while, or has freebie quality actually gone down? not that it matters too much, I have so much I don't really NEED anything else anyway, but...most of the freebies are just disappointing.

November 7, 2009 7:07 PM,
I dont think freebie quality has gone down. There's always been a mix of new designers trying to get their name out {sometimes not such good quality because they are so new} and more experianced designers giving out their "thank You's" {also sometimes not such good quality because they have the "why bother its going to be FREE" attitude}

Chances are what has changed is - YOUR knowledge, comfort in, and ability to use your prefered program. (good on you!) :0D

As with any hobby, the more you do it the more you learn about it and the better YOU become. You are now just passed the "beginner" stage and its going to take higher quality items to make you happy.

JMO-of course.

Please let us know when you find some, I'm rather tired of all the "crap" out there too!

And why hasn't someone filed criminal charges on her (Joedee Mastler) if she really stole money?
______

If you are talking about her disappearance and not paying her designers, going out of/selling business is not a crime. If a business is bankrupt and can't pay it's employees or bills then the employees can sue in a civil suit. But who really has the time or money for that? And you can sue but that doesn't mean that you will be able to get the money from the person. This was really life stuff and really woke a lot of us to how business can really burn your ass if you aren't careful!

Nobody has enough proof to put her in jail over the site hacking stuff. The charity didn't persue it further either. I still believe that the site was hacked but now I'm certain that she used that to her advantage to take the charity money.

I know exactly where Joedee lives. She's probably moved by now, too many people knew. She owes me money too. I suspect that she is still lurking around. She loves drama.

Speaking of crap azz elements, what is it that these designers are doing to theirs where they can't take a good drop shadow? The edges and element itself is so, I don't know like Gaussian blurred to death that you cannot make them look decent no matter how hard you try. And no, I cannot call out any designer specifically that does this; cause I tossed them. But after you have a few of these types you can tell from the store previews that they fall into that category I'm speaking of.

PHEW! glad to know I wasn't having a brain fart!!

wow I can't believe there are some of you guys that didn't find anything to buy at all on DSD. I spend almost $100 and could have easily spent more if I didn't restrain myself. I'm happy with everything I bought and scrapped a few pages already. I know we don't all have the same tastes, but really - nothing at all appealed to you??

^^^^^^

I didn't look. I had better things to do on the weekend. Also, I have so much stuff I'm not using that there is no way I can justify buying more crap just because it's on sale. I really haven't bought anything in almost 18 months and I don't miss it.

It's in English, maybe you should learn to read English. Sheesh.

I'll edit it for you. I agree it's terrible!

Also the reason why some extractions look so terrible is because some dsigners don't understand their program or how to get a good edge. They just erase the edge and think it looks good! The refine edge in CS3/4 is created for this very purpose.

As for the new scrapbooking gal who posted earlier, it seems like you read this smack blog with an air of "hmmmm does this sound like a good thing or does someone just have another grudge to air?" Just know that you'll be getting a lot of bad information!!! LOL

Anyone else care to try? I had to guess what she meant!

That's a good translation, but I think she's actually advising the new scrapbooking gal to read this blog with an air of "hmmmm does this sound like a good thing or does someone just have another grudge to air?" It seems like our friendly advice columnist is telling the new reader to read this with a grain of salt.

Thank you, makes much more sense now! LOL Hopefully that was the correct translation. LOL

Are you guys nuts or what? It reads the same. You didn't get it the first time? What's the matter with you?

Hey Royanna, I know you are reading this. When are you going to pay us what is owed to us. Also I agree with the person that said that anyone that loads their stuff to Divine is a retard. Think about it people. The whole site was still there. It was not hacked it was a thing called she changed servers and you all believe it was hacked. You really are not that dumb are you? Anyhow if I do not get my pay within the next day or so I am going to take this to DST forums. Then you will look real good Royanna.

That does not read the same! The translation is coherent. The first post was writen by someone who needs to brush up on their writing skills.

I'm not sure the translation is correct. But who can tell? The original post barely made sense!

Geez, the translation is correct. The orignal wasn't so bad. Did it occur to you that it may have bee nwritten by a non English speaker? Probably not.

Are you an American by any chance? I know Americans have to have programs from England and Australia dubbed into American because they won't understand it otherwise. I know that for a fact because when I was in the States, I heard it with my own little ears. Pretty damn pathetic.

What language is American, LOL?
I have no trouble understanding a British nor Australian accent. In fact, I think they are beautiful and love to listen to audio books with a proper accent and pronunciation from England. I've never heard the Queen's English dubbed into "American" here in the states in which I was born, raised and live either.

The comment above wasn't written by someone who was British or Australian. And I have never seen anything dubbed like you are talking about. I understand both just fine. I watch and prefer the British "Office" to the American one.

When I was in France for three months I was told many times to "learn the language" (I understood that in French). But when Americans say that, we are just a bunch of jerks acting like our language is superior. I hate the double standard!

It doesn't matter if they speak English natively or not. That's a lame excuse. And trying to make it out to be a Native English speaker's fault becaue they can't understand it is just as lame. If it doesn't make sense then I'm not going to write it off as them not being a native English speaker. I hate that we have to be sensitive to non-english when they are posting places that the main laungauge is English. If I don't understand I should be allowed to say so and ask them to restate it.

Oh great, another American who think the USA owns the internet....

Royanna still hasn't paid? I, for one, am shocked.

(ok normally I think the WV things are stupid, but the fact that mine has the word 'pence' in it, just cracked me up)

Heh. What I have learned from here is that when I finally take the leap and start shopping, I should stay off the boards or be very careful about where I sign up :) But thanks for the advice!

to the newbie
pshaw...
sign up where ever, buy where ever, enjoy the hobby,
when you or if you join the millions of lemmings designing the same kits, be careful where you indenture yourself...as the money is being made by the stores...
unless you are so good at what you do...and there are some designers that are fab-tab-u-lous in every language!
we were all newbies once...some have become jaded and bitter, some have continued the hobby and laughed and grown, some stay the same and hate that the industry changes.
have fun...enjoy and read here with a grain of salt...

I hope I am one who still enjoys the hobby! and fight that bitterbug...lol

I'm American and I understood exactly what that poster was saying. Sure it was not exactly grammatically correct, but come on it was still pretty easy to see what she/he meant.

Also as an American I am very frustrated with the extremes on both sides of the Americans are good/bad debate. Just like with any country not all Americans are the same.

I would never dream of making fun of someone who is attempting to learn the English language or didn't have perfect grammar. However, there are people that would and do make fun of those who do not know a language or do not speak it properly in ALL countries.

I've been made fun of before for not properly speaking a language in a different country while visiting. I was trying and making an effort though which is all I think anyone should ever ask of anyone.
