Happy Birthday DST

So let the birthday party begin. What fun and exciting things does Shannon and her crew have in store for us as they kick off another year? I am sure you all are eagerly waiting for the birthday kit, the pass the torch RAK (that has only been passed to beggars and high volume posters), the debut of the DST CT team, and who knows what other new and exciting ideas they will uncork this weekend. Let the shameless plugs and begging begin.

Here is the readers digest version of the last post: The DST CT was announced, vote for me threads should be outlawed, one person hates bracket previews, but most don't care, Rose still hasn't announced her CT, if you want to, you can send care packages to aunt Tilly at the trailer park, somebody is offering services to remove sticks from your ass if you have one stuck there, looks like we need a cure for those that piss rainbows, a Stampin' Up demo hacked Heather Ann's mailing list, dead celebrities and not dead celebrities, shameless RAK begging, Barb Speck is up in arms about the critique and reveal blogs, Gallery standout nomination for the milk lady, and slow pay and disgruntled designers at PPF.

Feel free to discuss my lame topic or anything else digi that you want to discuss. I don't have a mission here, I am not out to accomplish anything or change the digi world. My only pledge to you is to give you a new topic at around 200 posts because my pet peeve is when I have to click an extra time to see what you all are talking about. Have a good weekend. Carry on...

shame on you amanda dykan for coming here and acting like you are the victim. i dont know you, never have, never even heard of your store until i just went and checked it out and i have been around for sometime. not one thing in that store is on my kaboodle thats for sure nor do i think you hold any weight in this community. the designs in your store are below what i would consider sub-par and your site, well that is left to be desired dear. all my opinion. what does get me is that even if this designer is coming here for support you have proved her right by dismissing her in your own words in public. your attitude stinks and i dont take one thing you say seriously about supporting "your" community. please please go back to the beginning, learn how to design before you even attempt to hire a designer, learn how to run a professional business and stop taking us customers as idiots because we come here to discuss what cannot be discussed openly. i may only be one customer but i am one very good spender you just lost if you ever had the chance.

Here is a thread to watch:
http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/showthread.php?t=137690

Posted by Flergs...obvious reference to Melissa \ SweetWish...but unless you are a smack reader they wouldn't know.

"What should we do? Expose them? Especially when they re open a new store under a new name?" "See I have proof of designs being resold, sometimes not even recoloured or altered. Designs that were made using non-CU products. So it's not copy catting or mistaking CU. It's taking the exact paper for example & reselling AS IS."

and then this dumb statement by Cherry Limeade:
"Otherwise? I don't know. I suppose what may eventually happen is that the honest consumer may end up paying more to cover the losses from pirated goods..."
How exactly is a designer going to determine lost income, and then determine an appropriate amount to pass on to her paying customer. That is probably the dumbest thing I have seen there today.

Why in the hell does anyone over at DST even bother pretending to care about piracy, honesty or ethics when they are the same ones preaching forgive and forget and giving endless effin' chances to people like onescrappymom, ZaCola3, ashtina, SweetWish, etc?

These people seriously need to cut the crap.

no, if that designer wanted support she should have gone to the team, not a smack blog.

I have seen many questions asked and addressed at PPF, the team has always been very supportive of each other. Walking each other through things, answering questions, doing whatever they can to help their fellow designers.

It's when it is brought here anonymously BEFORE it is brought to the shoppe forum or the store owner that the designers got upset.

Anonymous said...

NO, this designer got upset because it WAS brought to her attention several times! How many times can you ask when is pay coming, better yet how do you ask someone to stop being so mean. The public should know. PERIOD. Stop protecting someone who had done wrong over and over and over. And what about what she did when she stole from that paper manufacturer and was caught red-handed? I guess that's ok too huh? Why doesn't she give us an explanation to that? That's what's wrong with this community - start acting professional dammit! Stop sugar coating these situations. It would be very different if this happened to you now wouldn't it? I'm gonna shut up now and let the consumer decide.

Anonymous said...

Regarding designers 'covering up' or spouting rainbows, there is not a lot we can do w/o risking libel.

When it came out that designers had shared customer info in the DCR, people were outraged. That was the designes trying to figure out piracy on their own and it backfired.

If you accuse someone of piracy on chatter you will get an ugly catfight that makes both parties look bad. There have been enough ugly catfights in the DCR.

So designers aren't spouting rainbows necessarily - there is just a limit to what we can do while maintaining professionalism.

Kudos to Flergs though - I think doing it on her blog was probably the best way to confront the situation publically. And using the screenshots as evidence leaves little to the imagination.

The proof is posted on Flergs blog, but it was Melissa Herzog, Busy Bee Scrapper and she was caught and closed down her Busy Bee store when she was called out. She just reopened a new store SweetWish, and now Flergs is going public.

What store did she open?

I think what I don't get is how this freebie shows that she was pirated? It just looks like a regular mini kit to me? What am I missing?

It doesn't. Read above the freebie. she took down the information about the pirating after she felt she had proved her point.

I have never even heard of Melissa Herzog...Poor Flergs.

The proof was posted last night on Flergs blog. She took it down. I am not sure I agree with her there, why not leave it up for all too see, now only a few people have seen it, and it was pretty conclusive, the others that missed won't be able to make up their own minds, and now it will just be heresay passed on through the smack blogs. Just the same as that designer had every right. Last time I checked it's not against the law, especially since she broke it herself. That fat cow is not human!! You yourself need to get a life too. Go clean your children. No doubt you work for her and that means you need to go back to working on your skills, you know something other then cu stuff recolored. Better yet why not go and scan in some paper and elements from a paper manufacturer like Amanda did, slap your name on it (Blythe no doubt) and throw it into your shop. Do link us when your done so we can rush over to PPF and spend our cash. Last word - NOT!

Anonymous said...

Uggg this Amanda chick sounds like a winner all around, NOT.

I kind of feel sorry for the designer that originally posted, obviously she has now talked to Amanda and the other designers that have come her "supporting" Amanda, I am sure they have made her feel very badly about bringing this to the public. It has made me not want to shop in that store ever. To the designer that posted about slow pay: Go to another store, your customers will find you.

Link for above comment.

That is Shannon's standard response to anyone that posts something remotely negative about a vendor. And Shannon does not give Diamond members any preferential treatment. I have notified her twice about a bug with the forum and have been ignored. I guess she figures she has my money already, no need to fix something that is broke. I kind of think if my diamond membership was used to support the site, I would expect the courtesy of a reply. And before anyone suggests: I have already pm'd her and posted in the help section, both have been ignored. wish I could ask for a diamond refund, buyer beware I guess.

Anonymous said...

Did she call Shannon "Sharon"?

I thought the Pictales lady was kind of snarky in her first response, saying, "Ms. Ugh..."

I am sick of the Shannon-smack downs. She does it ever so sweetly, but it isn't at all. She DEFINITELY could have PM'd that.

Good response swimmom!

GO Swimmom!

It's about time someone lobbed a sweet, smiley smack right back at Shannon.

Have to agree that Prathiba's 'Dear Ms. Ugh' was pretty damn snarky, too.

If businesses want MONEY, they need to fix the kinks and problems. Swimmom was doing them a favor by letting others know before it got to be a big problem for lots of people.

If you're not happy with DSTs service and the kits, you have a right to at least a partial refund it seems. All she can do is ignore you, which she already does anyway. Maybe asking for a refund will finally get her attention?

Sorry to say, this is nothing new. The Questions and Announcements forum has lots of requests for help that get ignored. The stupidest one I saw was someone who was asking when the next Diamond Membership drive was. The poor girl was ignored for I don't know how long--you would think when someone's willing to drop $100 on your site, you'd want to get back to them/answer their question. Not Shannon and her crew.

You won't get a refund on your Diamond membership. That is for your access to all the future gold kits, and the past ones you had access to. You cannot be refunded because you have had access to the files, therefore you have got what you paid for. It matters not one jot that you might not have downloaded them, or would be honest enough to delete them.

You have had access to them which is all the Diamond membership is about.

Regarding the MyPictales - Prabitha's response sounded very professional and polite and I know she is Indian - I honestly think she thought "Ugh" was the woman's name LOL.

I think Shannon is just tired of people trying to resolve customer service issues by posting in chatter and expecting the store owner/designer to magically notice. But Swimmom had a good point that this would affect other customers and defended her OP quite nicely.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, you can't convince me that Prathibha was not being snarky. She "speaks" beautiful English, and I have never seen her address anyone as Ms-whatever before. She knew what she was doing, and it was being a bitch.

Count me in as one who does not choose to do business with MPT.

Personally, I am sick and tired of business people treating their customers with disrespect. And yes, that includes Shannon, Barb Spec, Maya and a few others. I don't have such an obsession with digital scrapbooking that I will just lay down and accept whatever they dish out.

Anonymous said...

********

sometimes it is what you have to do to get some customer service from these people. You can bet that over zealous CTs run to the store owner just as fast as they supposedly do when there is a post about them on the smack blogs.

And bravo to the last poster. I think I shell out a pretty good amount of money but I'm no longer giving these "professionals" my business. And I don't care if they don't care. I'm sure they have plenty of other business to worry about losing mine.

Anonymous said...

ITA, Prabitha was not being snarky. She might speak beautiful English, but it's very common for a person to have a great grasp on business English while having no familiarity with slang terms. Ugh could be a name in any number of foreign languages, and if she doesn't recognize it immediately as English slang, she could assume that it's a name. Especially since Swimmom does not indicate what country she is from.

Anonymous said...

Well this isn't the first time Prabitha came across as snarky. Go back and read some of her other posts on the pictale problem threads. English or not, if you have a hard time coming across as professional and not bitchy, then get someone else to do your PR and followup work for you, because I'm one more that won't ever order from her.

Just because someone doesn't join in on a group hatefest and offers a defense of someone being 'smacked' does not make them a rainbow spouting pollyanna. It means they don't agree with what is being said.

You want frank and open discussion here. Hatefests w/o differing points of view are worse than rainbow spouting fests you decry on places like DST. Neither offer the opportunity for the individual to express their honest opinion.

My two cents minus inflation equals a lot of nothing for a great price.

I was directed to this site to view one particular post and was amazed how much ridicule and craziness exists overall. (Personally I'd rather go to the gym and make myself feel better than throw stones at others)

Kudos to ANY designers that truly design. (I don't mean scan and republish as your own.) I do not design but I appreciate beautiful creations. Please keep designing!!

Kudos to this and other websites/blogs/forums that offer FREE press. Not moderated, paid for advertising that has censorship. I don't beleive you should pay to be on a forum.

Keep you words flowing, for through exchange of words we find common ground on which to build. Through those same words we hopefully keep each other honest.

That's my two cents and I probably owe you some change.

Cheers!!

Due to a recent post at DST from Amanda Dykan and after considerable thought, I feel a response is imperative.

First, Amanda what you experienced the other evening has to be one of the scariest things any one can face. Whether it turns out to be a prank by local kids or a specific act intended to scare or harm you, I find it appalling and in no way condone or support this type of behavior.

Second, while I and numerous others did in fact participate in a recent discussion here on this blog, and in which I and others were very frank in our opinions of the manner in which you run your business and what is perceived to be a lack of focus, follow through and professionalism, toward not only your design staff but your customers, I am in no way responsible for any act of violence, acted upon or not against you or your family.

By posting at DST you have suggested that a fervent discussion about the manner in which you manage PPF and other professional endeavors might lead to someone actually committing, or attempting to commit an act of violence against you. This is illogical and to me, implausible and unnecessarily dramatic. The reality is that there were no threats made here against you, personally or otherwise. This was not an "I hate Amanda Dykan" dialog as you quoted in the DST post. While another poster did stoop to name calling, that was not me. Further, by you using the word "hate" in your quote today adds a dimension that I certainly never felt or intended to convey - and truthfully, I doubt anyone else did either. None of what I posted is a lie, a falsehood, slander or defamation of character in way, shape or form. From where I stand in life, expressing that one is frustrated and disappointed in a business or professional leader and/or relationship is not wrong and most especially, when supported by direct experience and again, verifiable written facts. That said, I have never now or in the past ever wished you or your family harm or attempted to bring you harm.

While I do not counter your right to consider all possible motives for any threat to you or your loved ones, by posting publically on the DST board & by putting out to a huge readership a vivid and emotionally charged suggestion that someone on this blog who posted could, would or might have architected retribution against you - and to do so before you have a shred of evidence to support this claim, it is paramount to slander and defamation of character. The ramifications of what you suggest far surpass any perceived personal damage that open, unbarred conversations about your business management skills could possibly have achieved. As per your post, the police will be checking IP's and conducting an investigation. I hope that if indeed someone from the digiscrap world has threatened you, that they are handled according to the law. I have nothing to hide and have done nothing more criminal than discuss with others in a free forum a stark example of the lack of professional demeanor present in this industry.

Was Amanada's DST post in the DCR?

Anonymous said...

Ok, her post must have been in the DCR since a search for all of her posts turns up nothing about these supposed threats and/or incidents.

I'm not quite sure how she or anyone else could make the leap from statements like "Amanda's a nice person, but not very professional" to threats or gunshots or whatever.

And if she was so sure that a scrapper shot at her house, why wouldn't she have posted in an open forum? This sounds a lot more like an attempt to intimidate the designer who originally posted the complaints about her.

If this doesn't convince anyone selling at her store that she's a business risk, I can't imagine what would.

People that make those kinds of accusations knowing that they're not true are the dangerous ones.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it was posted in the DCR - and I'm sure IF and WHEN the general public needs to know something that Amanda would release the information.

Now we all just wait and see if the police feel it's a serious enough threat with enough pointing them towards this blog to ask a judge to force blogger to release the IPs for this site for them to try to gain leads.

What a change that would make for the smack community.

Anonymous said...

Well interesting that she claims within 24 hours of a filing the report, the police already gave her the list of this blog's participants. Strange though. Because according to my sources, police departments do not release information gathered in the course of an investigation to anyone, including the person reporting a crime, let alone the same day. Further, there is no evidence of wrong doing. If she has a list of this board's posters then she was given it by someone with direct access to this blog.

Anonymous said...

I don't enjoy these types of blogs. I try to stay very positive and this enviornment is revolting. I was at Amandas home yesterday after the police left. I saw the bullet hole in her door and the police are investigating everything and everybody. Amanda did say that noone would want to harm her. Then there were the hateful remarks said here.

A horrible coincidence probably. We sure hope so. Some kids being stupid late in the night. Hopefully. But wouldn't you want them to look into everything? If you were being raked over the coals by people and then someone shot at your home while your family was inside sleeping wouldn't you do something about it.
Dramatic, Ya think. What else would you call it when the smack is going on and then someone shoots a hole in your door. Wouldn't you want it to stop. I would fear for my family. You are damn right you would. There are alot of Crazies out there. I am not calling one of you crazy but maybe there is just one. That is all there has to be. Right?

Whatever issues her designers have it is really between the designer and her. That should have been discussed in private. Her family is ok and hopefully you are all thankfull of that because she would be if this had happened to you.

As far as all the other stuff, in the scheme of things does it really matter. If there is a problem go to the source. Not a group of haters on a smack blog. (You really should find another outlet for your gifts.) Amanda's family is intact and she is making the stores she is involved with better with the help of a caring a supportive and very tallented team of people. If your opinion differs that is ok. It is your opinion. You have the right to it as I do to my opinion.

I think it is time to change the topic.

Why don't y'all jump on the color palette of the August freebie at DST. I would love to hear those opinions. :)

This is illogical and to me, implausible and unnecessarily dramatic. The reality is that there were no threats made here against you, personally or otherwise.
====================
Hey you fat chicken why don't you have the balls to tell Amanda this using your own name? You not only revealed confidential DCR info here but you have the gall to post anonymously and ramble on defensively beneath the veil of anonymity. You are the biggest friggin coward in digiland and pretty pathetic. You don't even deserve to be called a designer because you obviously don't even have basic ethics.

I am not affiliated w/AD nor do I really care about PPF or whatever people are griping about - I just find your behavior apalling.

Anonymous said...

I'm always amazed at those who sit on their high horses about people posting anonymously, yet don't post with their own names.

SERIOUSLY.

Anonymous said...

I just came from DST and I read the posts there. I for one do not believe the police were able to get the IP's of the visitors/commenters here because as blogger states, they would need a court order which most often takes more than 24 hours.

SO. This leads me to believe that if ANY information was shared, it would be by this blog owner BUT since she allows anonymous posts the only way SHE HERSELF could track IP addresses is if she has a "silent" IP tracker installed here at this blog. She stated on this blog that she doesnt have time for I.P. trackers and in view of the source code of this site, I personally dont see any remnants of any type of tracker.

SO. I call bullshit.

Personally I think what Amanda posted is a scare tactic. Everyone at DST knows there's a leak and that anything said there will most definately be posted here or on another blog.

I truly do feel sorry for what happened to her. It's never a good thing to feel unsafe in your own home, but in this day and age and with the scaling back of our police departments, this sort of thing is all too common.

I hope for her sake that she finds out who did it and they are punished IF IN FACT what she claims happened REALLY happened, although that's one HELL of a story to make up.

Just my 2 cents.

Anonymous said...

Anybody in the DCR able to tell which poster here is French Ruby? Don't need an IP for that one.

Anonymous said...

Well either that or there's more than one person in the DCR who isn't stupid.

Anonymous said...

You guys are speaking Greek to those of us who are not designers with access to the DCR. What's up with French Ruby?

Anonymous said...

French Ruby is about the ONLY poster who is poking holes in Amanda's posts. She's being tactful, but because she's not quite buying into what's being said, of course she's going to be singled out here.

Anonymous said...

I love French Ruby. She's just so damned...well logical. I certainly wish I had access just to be able to see what she's up to.

I'm not saying I don't believe Amanda, hell it happens where I'm from all too often. But that she thinks it actually could've been someone from the digi community, or that she already has IP addresses and that the police handed them her, just like that, yep all a little too strange.

So she got smacked on the blogs. BFD! She's not a very professional professional. If she doesn't want smacked on a smack blog she needs to get her shit together. But wow already, just wow!

Anonymous said...

Sorry but I am calling BULLSHIT on this WHOLE THING. Are we really suppose to believe that a housewife came to her neighborhood, in her mini van, "Soccer Mom" sticker in the back window, and used a gun to shoot at her door??????

Over a business problem at her store?????

REALLY???????????

How stupid does she think we are?

ANYONE can go to her police station and pay a fee to get a police report, if this is in fact true, and if anyone really knows where she lives.

Do we know? Because even newspapers publish a record in the local newspaper. We can find out if this true on our own.

Maybe I will do a little investigation. I'll see what I can come up with.

Anonymous said...

I'm not buying into it either. Police don't hand over evidence. EVER!
How stupid really is she to think that nobody is going to figure her out.

Anonymous said...

If it did really happen, that's awful. People have fired shots over much less than being smacked on a blog. I still don't see a post that threatens her in anyway. Can someone show it? The "worst" post about her was the very first one, and even that wasn't threatening, except to say he/she would never give her the business.

I don't know Amanda but I hope this whole situation is resolved for her.

Anonymous said...

There were no threats on this blog. Except to her reputation, because she was outed as being a deadbeat store owner.

I agree completely with the bullshit call. Anybody know what city she lives in? I would also like to search the local news.

But I have to say, I don't understand why any designers would take that crap and continue to sell at her store. There are so many digital stores, it's not funny. Find one that has a good reputation, and pick up your toys and leave.

Her address is public information, all you need to do is look up her website at whois and then you can look up her place on Google Earth.

Anonymous said...

She's in Texas. Her address is available as well. Where would one begin looking for police run logs? I believe they are public record, just not sure where to find them. In places I have lived, they have published police runs in the papers regularly.

Anonymous said...

I did a search on Ft. Worth TX news using both her last name, and the street name shown on her website account info at godaddy. I did not find any reports on a shooting. But, it's not a small town, so it may not be big news to have a shooting.

Anonymous said...

Wikipedia - Fort Worth, TX - 17th largest city in the US, population 702,850. Someone shooting through a front door with no injury, that probably made top news.

You'd have to live in a rural area/small town for that to make the news.

Anonymous said...

It probably wouldn't make the news. But it would show up in the police dept. run log, if someone can find that.

Anonymous said...

I hope someone can and then every single one of you owes Amanda an apology. I cannot believe the way people are talking about her. Whether it's related to digi or it was kids, someone shot through her front door, and you all are acting like a bunch of bitches.

Just catching up on today's turn of events. I just checked my email linked to this blog and have not received any communication from a police dept, Amanda, or Blogger. I do not track IP's, and therefore would not have any records for them to review. I also have not deleted any posts in this blog. If there were threats, I must have missed them too.

Anonymous said...

Amanda is the one who threw the digi world into this. Will she be apologizing for that?

Anonymous said...

HOF, thank you for clearing that up. So it IS bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Amanda claiming that the the police have given her IPs or any other kind of identifying info. from this blog is complete and utter BULLSHIT.

As the quote below states, the police do not give out their investigatory info. to anyone, most especially the person filing a complaint.

And, law enforcement agencies would first have to prove some kind of wrongdoing on these blogs, and THEN obtain a court order to get information from Blogger. They've done all that in less than 24 hrs on a WEEKEND? In a city where a random gunshot without injuries would most definitely NOT be a top news story?

It appears that not only is Amanda a very unprofessional digital store owner, but she's either mentally ill or a big liar as well.

She needs help. I hope she gets it.
---------------------Because according to my sources, police departments do not release information gathered in the course of an investigation to anyone, including the person reporting a crime, let alone the same day. Further, there is no evidence of wrong doing.

Anonymous said...

My two cents. The whole story sounds suspicious and these words, taken directly from Amanda's post, seem to be there for the sole purpose of stirring the pot as they just don't sound right to me.

"While it could have been kids goofing around in the neighborhood, they seem to think the bullet came from a small calibur weapon ("something a woman would carry" is exactly what the detective said)."

Anonymous said...

OMG, are you kidding me? What a load of crapola!

they seem to think the bullet came from a small calibur weapon ("something a woman would carry"

Anonymous said...

It may not be "Top News", however if she gave the police the info about this blog, they would have to have had it in their report, by doing so, the news would have picked up on it..."Gunfire over harsh words on a blogger" or some shit like that.

And no, the police would not have had IP's. They would need to go court, blogger would appeal, and then it would be in the appeal courts for MONTHS.

She is a loon. Plain and simple. No shootings in the dallas area (where she lives). I went to the Dallas police Department website, put in her name, and nothing.

Their police records are PUBLIC.

Why in the hell did the DST-er's NOT verify this?????

Look at the trouble they went to over the person asking people to send cards? They pin pointed a trailor park in Detroit within a few posts.

But NO ONE second-guessed this?????

The DST is fucked up and the designers that follow that forum are fucking retarded.

The DST is a short bus and Shannon is the driver.

How do you know that no one second guessed this? Seems to me that there are people here and in the DCR that are second guessing this.

Anonymous said...

OMG! This gets more hilarious by the moment!

"something a woman would carry"

No police officer would say anything that stupid! (But I do think she gets an 'A-' if the story is for "creative writing" class! LMAO!)

Besides, if she (or her son) supposedly found the casing, they would know FOR SURE what caliber it was, not just "they seem to think the bullet came from a small caliber weapon".

One more detail that doesn't add up: would a house alarm even go off if a bullet hit the door? We have an alarm-system, and the alarm is triggered by any break in the infrared light signal that it sends out from along the top of the door. Opening the doors (or windows) would set off the alarm. Something hitting the door from the outside would not. I'll admit that there may be systems that would go off if something hit the door, but something as small as The alarm would be going off a bullet? everytime a moth flew around!

I'm sorry. I'm just not buying any swampland today. Bridges neither.

The entire post by Amanda makes me ill. She says it's more personal etc than usual, when in fact, the posts were not like that at all. I read them and most agreed that she seemed nice or was nice, but just a terrible business person. I don't get it. It seems she's over blowing things to get attention and I guess, cynic that I am, an excuse that pay day is going to be late again.

When I think that I'm with a store owner who had to evacuate when the SoCal fires broke out and she managed to pay us on time, I just don't get the excuses.

Anonymous said...

....Not only that but she posted in the DCR, a PRIVATE forum for designers to support each other over issues they are facing...

Oh, get real. Anyone who proclaims themselves a designer and shows a store they sell in can gain access to this "private" area. And we all know how much talent you need to sell in some stores. NONE. Take a minute and just try and count all the digi stores out there and then add up all the designers selling in them. Any one of those people can get in the door.

She's spewing "oh, poor me" busllshit and people are calling her on it. Try and call her on it within that forum and see how long your post stays.

Exactly, so what if the cops have IP's, now they have it narrowed down someone in Chicago, Miami and Nashville were exchanging anonymous comments about Amanda and her business practices. Watch out Chicago, Miami and Nashville, the DFW cops are coming door to door and will be looking for your alibi.
Amanda in her own posted admitted to slow paying designers. She, herself confirmed and did not deny the original complaint about her.

And the issue was over, and everybody had moved on, and she brought it back up. Now it is the topic of conversation again. What is that saying...about bad press?

Let's assume there is an investigation. Why would Amanda post anything about the "evidence" or details of the case in a public forum (DCR)for the anyone to see?
Wouldn't she be jeopardizing the investigation? If she felt the need to gain support why wouldn't she post to the designers in her store forum only? Why go to DCR? Why post anything at all?

Definitely, and I hope that someone close to her can help her get the help she obviously desparately needs, before things spiral anymore out of control for her. Attention seeking is one thing, going to the lengths she's obviously gone too at this point in time is a completely different story.

So, considering this happened on a weekend, can you picture the Ft. Worth rookie who caught the judge on his way to church with his family Sunday morning, madly waving the transcript of this blog and telling him "Your honor, we need a subpeona NOW...We cracked this case...scrapbook designers have not been paid on time and they told everybody on this blog...they must be the ones who shot through the Dykan front door."

LMAO!

Anonymous said...

Okay to sum up the IP issue.

Ip's are granted to your computer like a home address for postal routes. You are granted an IP when you connect to your internet provider. IP's are purchased by Internet porviders in blocks.

So SBC DSL owns a range of IP's and AOL owns different range of IP's...etc. So when you connect you to the internet an IP address is LEASED to you upon connection. That lease is recorded in the ISP's log and is traceable back to your account.

As far as the Fort Worth Police being able to track the IP's to their specific lease at a specific time over the weekend....they don't have the resources. Much less to track multiple leases over the period of several posts in the course of this blog.

Like "Hall of Fame" said, no one contacted them regarding this in the first place.

a side note....guns are not toys yet accidents happen daily involving them. We all can agree that we are extremely glad no one was hurt in this particular incident.

Anonymous said...

You all sure do know everything.

Evidently, bringing a crazy-ass story like that to the DCR is the only way Amanda's ever going to get her 15 minutes of fame.

She does lie, she does manipulate conversations, she makes wild accusations about even her "closest" friends.

Amanda, please remember: Through the law of karma, the effects of all deeds actively create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to him/her and others.

Anonymous said...

Is she still posting about it in the DCR?

I want to thank the blog owner for showing up and confirming what many of us have believed.

I read that she is "considering" filing defamation of character, slander, etc charges against this blog owner. She also mentioned email addresses matching up to her PPF store. There are no email addresses used here.

I am not going to weigh on whether or not that bullet thing really happened to her. I am going to weigh in on the freedom of speech and the true meaning of defamation of character and slander.

You cannot play vigilante and threaten and seek to shut down a blog because they say things about you don't want to hear. For a post to be defamatory, it would have to be a lie with no bounds in the truth. The slander angle only applies when it is in print, but again it must be a lie.

If these posts are considered defamation of character, what would is her original post over there considered? She carefully accused, by placing a very crystal clear suggestion in to the minds of everyone reading, that someone over here is a violent blogger. That was a carefully crafted piece of retribution. The title of her post is "Be Aware". That has more damage potential than a hard line critique on how you run or don't a store.

I suspect that Amanda should be careful herself. She is on a fine rope legally and could end up being sued herself in her grail quest to shut down this blog.

Privacy Shmivacy...she involved EVERYONE who posts here by her claims of gathering up I.P.s and emails (which personally I still think is bullshit). She made clear her goal is to get the blog shut down, you'll see it below. She was getting slammed and this big fiasco is her UNPROFESSIONAL response (become the victim).

From Amanda at the DCR:

Just to clear things up, the list I was provided with with Email addresses that they compared to usernames at PPF. And there was no court order required. There's no expectation of privacy on the WWW- especially in cases where there is violence involved. I was told that the owner(s) of the blog would receive a visit from their local precinct this week. And, now that I know who that party is, I am seriously thinking of filing for penalties against her- for defamation of character, slander and malicious persecution (to say the least).

While I admit I don't think anyone from the blog had anything to do with the whole bullet-through-the-door incident (at least I hope not), if this allows me to finally shut down those blogs- so be it.

How did they get email addresses from anonymous posters? I'm geniunely curious about how that could be done. People have been trying to write sneaky website codes that grab people's email addresses without asking them since 1995 or before and it hasn't been managed yet. So I am intrigued!

Amanda, can you say whether the emails you received were all from the same email provider, for example, gmail?

Beyond that though I'm so sorry to hear something like that happened in your home. I cannot even imagine how scary it was and I hope that whether it were kids or something else, whomever did it is caught.

When the police suspect an internet porn type of case, they confiscate the computer and send it to the FBI. "major pirates" (as you call them) are caught by sheer stupidity on the pirates behalf. They dont spoof their I.P., they use their own email addresses, they create forums and hotlink to stores (where store owners can catch them) and the list goes on.

And before you start spouting off about ME being a pirate, i'm not, i'm an educated store owner with a background in systems and network administration.

Amanda's full of shit about getting a list of email addys and IPs from the police. K, so now she openly acknowledges that the blogs had nothing to do with the shooting. So why is she using the police to get IPs etc (yeah, right)? She's openly admitted her goal is to 'finally shut those blogs down'. Do the cops realise they are being sent on a wild goose chase just to find ammunition for her personal vendetta? Is that legal? It sounds like wasting police time to me.

And just because your husband was 'on the force' doesn't not make the impossible possible Amanda. Sure they might give you a little special treatment, but NOBODY can acquire and server multiple court orders, encounter no appeals, and get ISPs to trawl through literally millions of records in IP allocation records, in a matter of hours, on a weekend, and type the results up and deliver them to your door. And that's not even starting with the fact that cops don't show plaintiffs the evidence, especially when there is no suspect in custody and no charges have been brought against anyone.

Stop making this shit up Amanda, you are making yourself look like a total idiot. Please, stop now.

The sunshine brigade needs to experience an extended solar eclipse. There isn't one person here who would wish harm to Amanda's child/children, her or any member of her family. But this whole thing is so absurd that I can't believe there are still people buying into the whole thing. I'm not saying the shooting didn't happen. I have no idea. It happens here all to often, unfortunately it's not unusual. But all the other crap that's being spouted, seriously?

While you might be able to post anonymously, I bet Blogger has a way to track everyone who visits this site. I agree that the turn around seems way to fast for police to get their hands on any of the info. But then again, getting a list of people who have viewed the site would probably be considered public information anyway.

The fact that she got a bullet in her front door and immediately thinks of blogs like this speaks volumes to me about what you all like to do here.

Oh please. Have you read through this thread? The only reason she thought about these blogs is because someone made it public knowledge that she has sloppy business practices. She had egg on her face and didn't like it. There's nothing here, anywhere, that would make anyone think she was threatened, nothing here that would make anyone think she should even feel threatened.

As per her own admission she wants the blogs closed down. What better way to try to do it than to make people think that we're a bunch of violent, crazed scrappers?

I haven't spouted anything from 'over there'. What are you talking about? As I said, I haven't disclosed any information from the DCR. Nothing at all. What information exactly are you referring to?

You'll have to look elsewhere for the mole hon, they were there before I joined the DCR and they will no doubt be there long after I move on to pastures new. Sorry I can't help you on that one.

Anonymous said...

Ruby, I'm sorry you've been singled out because you questioned Amanda's story in the DCR.

To Amanda's sunshine brigade, shame on you for slamming free speech. There were NO threats made on this blog. There WERE designers who complained about Amanda's poor business practices. There are no grounds for having this blog shut down. Get over it.

Ok, time for something better. No, I didn't DL the DST bday kit. I looked um, how do you say, hideous. There wasn't anything there I'd use in a million years. It didn't seem to match the style of all the DST designer toadies either. Wonder who put it together. Now I think I should DL just to see the TOU.

The whole DST bday bash was a snoozefest. None of the designers I like participated. Gee, I wonder why?

Anonymous said...

No Ruby, by my spouting off remark I was talking about the sunshine brigade, definitely not you, I'm in your corner!

Anonymous said...

Seriously, haven't we wasted enough of our time on the likes of Amanda and her crazy attempts at getting attention?

I didn't DL the DST bday kit, either. If anyone did, could they list some of the designers who contributed? I didn't see anything that looked appealing from the preview, but sometimes the preview doesn't do a kit justice. I know I'm probably grasping at straws, but maybe if I recognize some designer names that do decent work, it might be worth the time to DL and check it out.

Hey, I can hope, can't I?

Anonymous said...

I didn't dl it either because the preview just didn't show me anything interesting. I'd love to hear what others thought.

Anonymous said...

I can't even find the preview in the mass of contests and other things. Somebody link me up?

It's in this month's DST Insider.

Anonymous said...

Wow, that's... erm... No wonder I didn't notice it before. Hmm. OK, thanks anyway :)

Anonymous said...

Why would you claim it's not a smack blog, but invite people to post their complaints "anonymously"? Sounds a little fishy to me. Maybe DST blogbusters trying to capture IP addresses?

Thanks, I'd rather stick to the known quantity.

My first thought was this was FlCindy trying to carry on her daily rant, vent, thread in a different format. No thanks.

No, but it is against your contract that you signed in the DCR to come here and spout what is over there. If we could only prove it we could have you banned. Whether you agree with Amanda or not, a mole needs banned.
-----------------

You know, I used to think like that too, but not anymore. Some of the things that are said in the DCR need to be made public. I used to keep quiet and never once, in the whole time I've been in the DCR, which is almost since the start, have I ever made anything public, until this whole bullet-in-the-door incident. The sole purpose of that post was to scare and incite people. I can't believe the number of designers who actually fell for the 'it was a blogger'. It's completely ridiculous, or rediculous. It was a random event that had nothing to do with this blog, or any other blog. The timing was sheer coincidence.

I may have broken the so called 'contract' of the DCR, which, by the way, is not legally binding, but when innocent people are being threatened and accused, they have a right to know.

Does anyone have a screen shot of the DST birthday kit? I don't want to download the Insider just to see it.

Preview is in this post -

http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/showpost.php?p=1393002&postcount=46

There's somethings I like, somethings I don't like, some experienced designers mixed in with some newbies.

I liked the alphas, some of the papers, some of the elements. I won't use everything, but there was stuff I will use.

Thanks for the preview. Nothing grabs me.

Poor Amanda is misguided and keeps digging her hole deeper and deeper every time she posts.

Police don't hand over evidence in an investigation. Period.

Police don't investigate in defamation and other civil matter. Period.

Amanda should have researched the civil justice system a little before building her house of cards.

In order for Amanda to do anything legal she will have to file a civil suit. For that she needs a lot of money. It can take years for any evidence (IPs) to be handed over.

Judging by Amanda's little cookie-cutter home in the burbs she does not have much to her name nor does he have the brains to pull it off.

My conclusion is that she's full of shit. She needs some serious psychological help.

As to the birthday kit,
I DL'd it, and it was awful!!
Looks like beginner designers designs. No designers I even heard of except liella.
I deleted a ton of it, and then went back 5 minutes later and deleted the rest. It was quite a shock. How could Shannon even release that kit, with DST connected to it, is beyond me.

Question: Why is it if another designer does this, she's a bitch and needs to get a life and be more professional, yet now it's three cheers? Explain please.

I didn't care for the kit either, I downloaded part of it and didn't see anything I liked. I was sad to see that those "A-List" designers whose CT's are all over the forum didn't contribute to either the kit or the "party". They use DST as an advertising medium I thought they should have given back a little.

Anonymous said...

Oh, so now there's going to be a witch hunt for the mole, huh?

You guys are un-frickin-believable.

Anonymous said...

I have mixed feelings about the 'big-name'/A-list/whatever designers not contributing to the DST bday kit.

On one hand, if they use DST as an advertising medium, giving back by contributing to the kit probably would be the right thing to do.

On the other hand, DST is such a train-wreck (just look at this weekend's events @@) that I can see why reputable/big-name/whatever designers and stores wouldn't really want to be very closely associated with it. It's one thing to cover all your bases with paid advertisements and low-key, relevant promoting, but it's another to get too closely involved with the mess that DST has become.

Anonymous said...

Isn't it strange that every time someone questions a Flergs post, there's spam that follows.

I don't see why the designers who PAY to advertise need to give anything back to DST.

hmph, maybe because it's the HUB of the community and because it's such a great place to hang out. Not to mention that Shannon is Superwoman and a saint to boot. And how could we forget what a valuable resource the DCR is for digital designers??
