People, get a clue. Michelle's classes suck. People in each class ask for refunds because she ALWAYS has personal issues that make her abandon her classes for weeks at a time.

What? I said one thing about Amanda, so I did let it go. As we are all anon here, it's a mistake to think that only one person is defending, or a lot of people are defending. Don't assume I said all the other stuff, because I didn't.
Wth is wrong with Vinnie Pierce?! I've had my eye on her "Wishes and Dreams" collab with Kitty Designs for a while so when I saw this thread today I got excited:
It says the kit is being retired and is 50% off so I go to it and she jacked the price up to $16 something so that "50%" off is making it $8 something! And I know for a fact the kit was not always that high cause it's on my wishlist. Here it is:
So I checked Kitty's store and I was right, it used to be $8.99! I can't believe she jacked the price up and then made it seem like such a good deal at 50% off! What a stupid bitch
Wow, it sucks that Vinnie Pierce did that! It's definitely well within her right to set her prices however she wants in order to make a profit, but she sure isn't going to draw customers by doing shady crap like that.

---------- From Vinnie's Store: "Wishes and Dreams kit - Vinnie Pearce and Kitty Designs $16.50 $8.25 Save: 50% off 4.30 USD Retirement price!"
It appears that her store's default currency that it displays is NOT USD. Maybe I should call you the stupid bitch for not knowing how to read adequately.....
Er, dodo brain, the $16 is NZD! If you had a look at the description, you'll see that she lists the price as now being $4.30 USD! Which would be about right for 50% off the original price, don't you think?
This is what happens when you don't read! You look like an idiot.
Even if she WAS doing such a thing, don't you realize that's what almost every, single retail business does? It's common knowledge. If you go, say, Best Buy or Sears or even grocery stores and you see a markdown, you can be damn sure they marked it up first. I used to work in a retail clothing store and before we started a sale, we marked everything up the same percentage before we marked them down.
Circuit city just went out of business here and they claimed 50-70 percent off. Yeah, before they did that, they marked everything up to MSRP first.
Who ever it was that posted the Art Rage Glitter tutorial as response-thanks! I do own the full version and haven't tried it yet, just stopped by and saw you left the instructions. I am so sick of buying glitter items -its good to have an idea of how to make my own (for personal use-LOL) :)
When I was in retail I learned that it is illegal to do presale mark-ups. The company couldn't raise the base cost before the mark down. You can report this to your attorney general's office (probably not digiscrap stuff but if it happens on a large ticket item, I would call the store on it!). Prices can go up, just not before or during an advertised sale.
The exception is when a company is going into liquidation. But usually another company takes over to do the liquidation sale.

Wake up and smell the greed.
March 16, 2009 10:37 AM
Yep, everyone. I bought two totes to store winter clothes in last week at K-Mart for $3.49 each. I went back for two more yesterday, the same exact totes are on sale this week 2 for $9.00. Not a typo according to the sales clerk, she can't explain how that happened, but I said I'd wait until they're not on sale next week and come back for two more. It happens everywhere, legal or not.
Well, any digi store that has fake sales doesn't get my business.
Corporate greed-it's wrong, but not unexpected either. That kind of subterfuge from digi designers who hang all around the community 'befriending' people is NOT expected and not ok. If someone in digi is too greedy to have a sale, they just need to be honest about it. I have much more respect for that than the markup for a pretend sale.
If people keep letting it go, then corporations are going to keep doing it. It has nothing to do with waking up and smelling the greed. Do something about it. One company I know used to do the pretend sales all the time. They got caught out big time because people either complained or reported them. The company went under and it was a big company, not just a little one.
Well, Vinnie definitely did not mark up the price. It was just a conversion issue and it really was 50% off. How irresponsible to come here and make those accusations.
Our local grocery store had a buy one get one sale on some steakums last week. I paid $4.99 and then got one free. This very weekend I went back shopping and they had the same product priced regular at $3.99, so they had marked it up $1 for the sale. it was still a good deal but I am leary about shopping there now.
Scrap Artist used to be on of the very best stores in digi-land, at least IMO-but when they lost Em and Angela Powers things started to deteriorate. ---------------------------
IMHO, it started to deteriorate when they took those two on. SA used to have quality guaranteed, until the Power sisters. I liked what they made, I just didn't like the way they made it. Even now, Em's stuff needs quality control.
I'd be more leary about eating steakumms. ___________
WHAT?!?!?!?! Steakumms is goooood. Fried up with some onions and peppers. Put it on a bun with some mayon and cheese.... YUM. It's a heart attack waiting to happen but sooooo good. Tastes like greasy fair food.

ITA. I learned it the hard way, bought some stuff from her, very blurry. A year later, I thought I could give her another chance and bought some papers. Blurry again!!!! What???? How hard can it be to create non-blurry papers these days with all the nice CU textures out there. She obviously has no shame ripping her customers off. As for me, I won't be her customer EVER again.
Well, the fact is that a great deal of the CU overlays and textures are blurry if you enlarge them to 12x12. They look fine at working size - and if the designer isn't enlarging them to check, then her work is going to bear the brunt.
The sad thing is that you can see full view when buying. I think it should be demanded by all store owners that overlays have an enlarged, 3600x3600 view in the previews. This would make sure that we as customers are not buying substandard crap that we cannot get refunded.
I can't tell you the number of times I have complained about blurred out overlay textures and have not even received the courtesy of a reply for the owner or the designer.
so is DST gone for good this time? it's been down for how long now? this is crazy. if there was a way for me to get my freaking money back I would in a heart beat.

That's not a good excuse. It is a designer's responsibility to check their own work and tools that she is using. There are blurry overlays, I agree, but designers need to take ownership of their work. Period.

Seriously. Why does it matter? This business has gotten way too personal. I read somewhere recently that some people were complaining about designers that did not blog about about more personal stuff, and they did not feel connected to the designer. I don't see why designers should have to blog about themselves anyways. I don't spend my time following designers. It's these same people that jump from one fave to the next, depending on who is hot at the moment.
DST Site Down 3/17 We are aware that DST is down. We have contacted our web host to find out what the problem is. We will fix it as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Mellow out? Kiss my ass. I wasn't spazing, First it runs slow as hell for how long, when you could get in at all, now here it is more then 24 hours later and the site is still down, and that's all the information Shannon could spare? I've shelled out the money for gold and now diamond memberships, and if I wanna bitch about it I'm damned sure gonna bitch about it.
I don't give a hairy rat's petard who everyone's favorite designer is. I don't care one bit about designers' personal lives--in fact, I wish they'd back off, stay out of the forums, and keep it business only.
I'm sick and tired of designers who put themselves all "out there" and pretend they're all chummy with their customers all in an effort to drum up business. If they weren't out there blabbing about their personal lives, no one would have anything to gripe about or hold against them.
Quality speaks for itself. If your designs are good and I like them, then I'll buy them. Save the fake friendship game for someone else-I don't need it and don't want it.
I am just an average scrapper, not a designer. I am not active on any CT's, although I have been in the past. I am not active in any "scrapbook community", I don't post on the message boards, and I don't post my layouts online anymore. I read the Digi boards for entertainment, and am constantly amazed at what people share on the internet. I freely admit to reading the scrapbook smack blogs, it is a guilty pleasure.

So I checked Kitty's store and I was right, it used to be $8.99! I can't believe she jacked the price up and then made it seem like such a good deal at 50% off! What a stupid bitch

----------
From Vinnie's Store:
"Wishes and Dreams kit - Vinnie Pearce and Kitty Designs
$16.50 $8.25
Save: 50% off
4.30 USD Retirement price!"
Snap 5.51! We were both typing at the same time and said the same thing.
pwnd.
Wake up and smell the greed.

I'd be more leary about eating steakumms.
dang, DST is down AGAIN. It's getting ridiculous

LMBO, I thought the same thing! They still make those?
Scrap Artist used to be on of the very best stores in digi-land, at least IMO-but when they lost Em and Angela Powers things started to deteriorate.
---------------------------
IMHO, it started to deteriorate when they took those two on. SA used to have quality guaranteed, until the Power sisters. I liked what they made, I just didn't like the way they made it. Even now, Em's stuff needs quality control.

WHAT?!?!?!?! Steakumms is goooood. Fried up with some onions and peppers. Put it on a bun with some mayon and cheese.... YUM. It's a heart attack waiting to happen but sooooo good. Tastes like greasy fair food.
**oops...mayon = Mayo.
I'm having a hard time envisioning what steakumms are. They sound like dog treats.

Digishoptalk must have crashed hard. I still can't access them today.
so is DST gone for good this time? it's been down for how long now? this is crazy. if there was a way for me to get my freaking money back I would in a heart beat.

Some designers include a close-up view. But you are right, it should be mendatory in all shops.

*eyeroll* Mellow out. Shannon said she was going to update the site and give it a new look.
Yes, she should probably have a blog where we can check site updates, but no need to spaz
She does have a blog and did update it. Hm, but I don't have the link anymore. I saw it on MSA.

That's not a good excuse. It is a designer's responsibility to check their own work and tools that she is using. There are blurry overlays, I agree, but designers need to take ownership of their work. Period.
sheesh!
I buy from designers that design good stuff. I don't care who they are friends with. They can only control their own actions and words. They can't control what their "friends" do.
Even if Amanda (and other's whoever they are) walked away from Jodee, it wouldn't have mattered to you jerks. You all are just judgemental idiots dying to throw stones at anyone.

I posted above but forgot to mention I agree with the poster above about who cares who is friends with whom.
blogowner, can we have new space

ITA! If you look at the who's your fav designer thread at DST at any given time, it changes every six months or so. I find it amusing.
My list stays the same, except I do add new designers on as I find them, but my favs stay there.

But see, the thing is, Shannon and her sycophants couldn't care less.
They got your money, and that's all they were interested in. The only thing gold and diamond memberships get you is those after-thought kits.
