Let's talk Mo Jackson

Ok, so I know that threads about Mo Jackson usually turn into a train wreck at DST. But I have to say, I am intrigued by her. Let me preface to say, I don't own one thing she has made. I did take a peek at her site, when it was open to the public and it looked to me like her style was vintage, reminded me of KB & Friends. Then apparently she has some boxes, and well now everybody has boxes. My other mental note was her kit prices were really high. So based on my 10 minutes browsing the store, I determined if I want vintage, I can find it on the open market for a better price. Now her business model is what intrigues me - monthly membership for the priviledge to shop at her store, can't be on any CT's, and I don't know what her other rules are, as I have never tried to gain access to MoLand (and my info above may not be factual, again just bits and pieces from lurking around) So is she in it for the fun of it? Why the exclusivity? Any members of MoLand care to fill in the outsiders on any insider information. Is there really no MoLand and she created the front door just to make people curious?

I have no first-hand knowledge about MoLand, so I'm not going to speculate. But I am fascinated by the fact that her name seems to be such a polarizing force in the digital world.

I'm turned off by her and I don't care to know more about her. I don't like the fact that she's let it be known that she's wealthy and doesn't 'need' any money - that this is only for fun. I was raised to believe that it's very low-class to brag about your social status. If it's true, so what? Why would you tell people that?

I was allowed it....I personally would love to know Mo better. I really don't know anything about her, even after being a member, but she really seems like one of the nicest people I've met online.
And...just for the record, I am on CT's, and Mo was aware of it. It didn't stop her from letting me in.

Some of her stuff is unique...And I will yap about what I have heard in DST and in the digi-smack world. And that is she was caught using someone else's stuff, and in stead of using removing it, she made her store private. BEcause she didn't want the DST Lap Dogs to attack her.

Fix that....

Instead of Using...Replace with "Just"...
That is what I get for tyoing and talking...LOL

I wonder if she makes any money with her store being so private. I doubt it.

Mo jackson went private after she was caught selling an item made by Ronna Penner (sp?) She blamed it on Ronna (because she didn't put her name in the file name, and how was poor Mo to know it wasn't hers!) I haven't been to Mo Land and have no desire to

It had nothing to do with DST. This all happened at 2peas, long before DST ever came about.

Mo designed at SBE, as did Ronna at the time I believe.

The Mo Jackson/Ronna Penner saga is another example of what happens in communities when designers or their friends or CT members or fans publically accuse each other of 'copying'
Those kind of accusations are very emotional for both sides, and if it's not handled PRIVATELY b/t the designers, huge dramas and scandals are inevitable.
Once you get a big scandal early on in a community, it becomes 'legendary' and you get the whole telephone effect of people spreading misinformation (like the post saying that Mo took her store private b/c of DST-the second poster was correct-this was LONG before DST ever even existed)
I don't see any fix for this other than designers being able to keep these issues private. IF they're going to vent to someone, they'd better make damn sure that someone is trustworthy enough not to EVER go public with the smack. And as has been proven OVER and OVER and OVER again, truly being able to 'know' someone through an online-only relationship is extremely rare.

I love vintage stuff, and I have to say that any of her products I've seen, I've liked. I have always loved the collage-type images I've seen on her website (the parts that I can access, anyway).

Mo-Land has always intrigued me-when I started scrapping, I was looking for a ct, so I didn't think I'd be able to apply to MoLand. Since she changed to a membership fee, I wouldn't be able to afford that, plus the prices of her kits. Much as I love her stuff, it's just not feasible with my budget.

I used to think it was strange and maybe exclusionary of her to have a 'locked-down' type of site, but after being in digi-land for a while now, I can believe she has her reasons, even if I don't know/understand them.

Couldn't that be the person or company who registered her domain or something? Or the name of the host/hosting company?

I know that when I bought/registered domains with my hosting company, I had the option of private registration so that my name, address, etc. did not show up. You'd better believe I chose that options. Just because of stuff like this. Not to mention any crazy stalker types that are out there.

Mo Jackson's address, etc. is really none of our business.

...............

Feel free to point out any train wrecks, I must admit I skim the first page of chatter, and may miss a train wreck, because I only click in if the title pulls me in. As far as Moe, I was trying to find a topic that usually gets people talking, and I was trying to get away from anything related to pirating....obviously I failed at both.
